United Soccer Coaches name Regional Staffs of the Year

The staffs, 48 total were announced over NCAA D1,2, & 3. During the USC Convention in Baltimore on Jan. 16 they will be recognized. These same staffs are now on the ballor for National Staff of the Year in their division of NCAA soccer. Others on the ballots will be those who advance to the NCAA semis. Below is a listing of both local schools and those we have ties to, school and HC.

NJIT:Fernando Barboto

Indiana University: Todd Yeagley

Adelphi University: Gary Book

John Carroll University: Hector Marinaro

Some Final Rankings by United Soccer Coaches

In NJCAA Rankings Monroe-New Rochelle has a great 1,2 punch with the Men being tops in the nation and the Women #2, the best in the Women's game was Tyler Junior College.

NCCAA had the Women's game as #1, Bob Jones University, for the Men, the best program was Pensacola Christian College.

Women's MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalists

The top award in soccer is the Hermann, 15 are still in the running from the women's game as the voting by NCAA D I women's coaches has been tabulated. World Wide Technology presents this award as it has been done since 1967, Catarina Macario of Stanford, again in the running and just a junior along with Andrew Gutman of Indiana, the most recent honorees. Fri. Dec. 6, with the Women's College Cup in San Jose CA, the 3 finalists will be revealed. This year, the banquet will be at the MAC in St. Louis Jan. 3. Below are the final 15 in school order.

SJU Men's Soccer Nets 3 Big ones in Big East

Coaching Staff of the year for Dr. David Masur, Dave Janezic & Flo Liu, Masur is a 4X coach of the year since '91, the 3rd such time they took such a trio of awards, the first being 1993, an undefeated season then their 2nd BIg East Title in a row. The other year with the triple was 2008 when they reached their 4th College Cup in 12 years.
