Back to back national championships, numerous first round draft picks, national team players, later winners of the Player of the Year in the NCAA, Ulster has a huge weekend of events scheduled for Sept. 6 & 7. The UCC Soccer Alumni with the school has a number of local socccer events to pay homage to the long history of success on and off the pitch. The goal of this weekend is to honor George Vizvary, the Hall of Fame coach and his 2 national champions of 1977 & '78. Coach Viz is truly a legend of the game.

Each year at the NSCAA, now USC Convention, the highlight for me is this event. The room is a who's who of American Soccer very strong in the Collegiate ranks with Jerry Yeagley, Bruce Arena, and oh so many more, it is an hours long event with auctions and great times all around. This year it will be held Sat. Jan. 12 at McCormick Pl, Chicago in Hyatt Regency Ballrooms B,C & D @ 4p.m., sponsored by the Chicgo Fire. Begun after Walt passed in 1994, it honors and preserves his memory of his coaching career as USNT HC & Dir. of Coaching and more.
readA total of 67 teams were awared this at different level. Platinum is for those not receiving any cards, all season long. Gold, silver & Bronze is determined by a percentage calcualted by the total number of cards issed divided by the number of games played. Yes NY even Long Island had a few in this list. States are not listed, so it is possible the school is the same name but not a local school others as the coach is known it is certain. Some would not see this as good thing, teams not playing with heart effort etc.
readNew inductees for this HOF will be Susan Ellis & John Kerr Jr. of Chapel Hill, Sandra Serafini of Durham, Duke University's Men's Program & the 1996 Greensboro United Soccer Association Navy Capture Girls soccer team to the National Champions Hall of Honor within the HOF. The 22nd edition of this event takes place Jan. 26 at the Marriott Winston-Salem. now for the inductees:
readThis massive group of soccer coaches has named a pair of local players to this list. NCAA D III player from East Hampton Nick West plays for Messiah College. The Youth Boys player is no surprise as Giovani Reyna of NYCFC was tagged to that great honor.
