With the same criteria as the other Scholar All-Americans we named earlier today there are a pair with local ties to be named in DI. From a line of soccer players in his family, Hofstra Senior Defender, Sean Nealis of Massapequa was selected with his almost perfect 3.7 in the demanding Accounting program out of Hofstra. Columbia also had one Lion maned or rather named, Dylan Castanheira possibly a student of former USSF prez., Sunil Gulati in being an Economics student carrying a 3.43 GPA.

Today the last few candidates for these high honors in the Men's & Women's game have been selected. For the Women's game it will come down to Jordan DiBiasi a Sr. mid. for Stanford, CO her teammate sophmore forward Catarina Macario of San Diego & Georgetown senior forward out of CT Caitlin Farrell. On the Men's side it is between Indiana senior back Andrew Gutman from IL, U. of Denver senior forward Andre Shinyashiki of SP Brazil and UK junior forward JJ Williams of AL. This award is awarded on Jan. 4 at the banquet in the Missouri Aathletic Club, St. Louis.
readTwo Juniors on the Loyola University of Maryland Men's Soccer Team made the 3rd team for 2018. Midfielder out of Jericho, Barry Sharifi and from New Hyde Park forward Brian Saramago. There was one other from NY, from the Bronx and Wake Forest University, sophmore Omir Fernandez. These announcements were made as we had informed on the eve of the College Cup semis in Santa Barbara Ca. one-sixth of these players will be participating in this round of the NCAA's.
readThe Hermann Trophy, soccer's answer to the Heisman has announced both the Men and Women semifinalists to be narrowed down on Dec. 7, with the College Cup in California. The grand event and reveal of the winners will be of course at the Missouri Athletic Club and their banquet in St. Louis. Jan. 4. Two up for this honor are from NY, from Wake Forest by way of the Bronx, Omir Fernandez a Sophmore forward and Samantha Coffey from Sleepy Hollow, attending Boston College as a Sophmore Forward.
readToday, USC revealed the 2018 Regional Staff of the Year for NCAA DI,II & III. As there are fully 2 dozen chosen, listed are the locals and more prominent coaches selected for such a prestigous honor. All will be feted during the USC convention in Jan. All will also be on the USC ballot for National Staff of the Year per division along with staffs that advance to the semis of their NCAA Championship. The voting opens today, closes on Dec 14.
