A Historical Look Back At First U.S. Club To Win On Mexican Soil

With the New York Red Bulls visiting CD Guadalajara (Chivas) in the semifinals of the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League next month, we take a historical look back at the first U.S. player to lead a New York team to victory against a Mexican club, on the road, during a confederation tournament match. Midfielder Andrew "Andy" Mate notched three tallies (hat-trick) to lead the New York Hungaria SC to a 3:2 win over CD Oro on March 18, 1963.

Coach Carr and CONCACAF Women's U-17 Championship Nicaragua team

Mark Carr has named his 20 player roster for the coming games of April 19-29, with its top 3 heading off to their World Cup in Uruguay  Nov 13 - Dec 1. The new calander year cut off dates have the oldest being born Jan. 1, 2001, he selected 17 from that year and 3 from 2002. This selection came following a 10 day camp in FL with 3 games with the Japan u-17's where the US went undefeated. Carr stated " the decision of the final World Cup qualifying roster certainly was not easy."  There is just one local player, Julia Dohle of NYCFC out of Scarsdale.

Whitecaps put player out on Loan

Myer Bevan has been put out to Husqvarna of the 3rd divison until at least July 10, the 'Caps reserve the right to recall at anytime and it may go through the end of the season. Whitecaps head coach Carl Robinson stated "He's shown that hunger your looking for in training, this is a great opportuinty for Myer to pick up some important minutes on the pitch." Myer 20 years of age from NZ and a player for them internationaly joining the MLS side in Dec. after a good showing in the USL with 3 goals in 11 starts.

BWP is Alcatel MLS Player of the Week

                                  The New York forward was selected for this honor based upon  the strength of 2 goals v Minnesota in a 3-0 win, moving him to alone occupy the 5th place in MLS history with multiple goal games. His first goal, as he had one in each half was off a fancy assist by Hicksville's Tim Parker good for his first points as a Red Bull, following the goal all BWP did was point back to the defender as it was a back of the foot redirection of the ball.

NYCFC links up with Univision

Today the team and network announce together the games in Spanish will be carried on Univision Deportes Radio Wado & Que Buena, this is a club first and all game are to be streamed online as well as mobile. Roberto Abromowitz & Ariel Judas are back to bring the action home to all. NYCFC Prez. Jon Patricof stated "we are thrilled to partner with Univision. The addition of a streaming is an exciting option."  Similarly, Roberto Yai, Manager of Univision NY informed, "As the home of soccer in New York, we're excited."

NC Courage and Dash will play on a new date

June 2 will not see this NWSL game but the next day will as June 3 has BBVA Compass Stadium free, just announced by the NC side today. Kickoff and broadcast details shall follow. All season tix for the Dash intended for the first date are of course still valid as will single game ducats. Any issues are to be handled by callling 713-276-7500, Dash Member Services. Sat. Mar.

Crew are inhospitable to United

In front of 8,433 Crew faithful, Columbus sent DC packing 3-1. For DC, Asad netted his 2nd goal of the young season, he now has a pair with an assist over 4 starts. Luciano Acosta now has his initial assist of 2018 to go with one goal over 2 starts. Chris Durkin in his first MLS game got the start and complete game in under his belt. 2nd generation DC player, Ian Harkes made his first start for the year. David Ousted made 4 saves, a personal high with United. Chris Odoi-Atsem got in 12 minutes as a late sub and his first minutes.

NCFC @ Lou. CIty FC is a no go.

The home field of Louisville City was left unplayable by field conditions from inclement weather and had to be postponed. The Saturday game at 3p.m. was to be the first meeting of the two, an anouncement is expected soon for the rescheduled date. NCFC is next up against Richmond Kickers in VA March 31 @ 5p.m. at City Stadium.
