Moments by the Minute From USWNT & Canada First Half

By Sean McCaffery, February 20, 2021

This is not intended to touch on every thing that was of note during the game, I was not 100% attentive, I am sure omitted things that I did observe and my handwriting got worse in the 2nd half but here it is:

Early in the game there was a free kick from just beyond the area, it was struck on into the wall, not a bad tactic from a distance but from so close any error and it is a goal, none will jump and if it deflects anywhere but forward it is easily handled or out of play, this is what happened hit the wall staying far from the goal.

USWNT & Canada

By Sean McCaffery, February 19, 2021

Canada was down a good 4-5 players including Sinclair and the US took way too long to get their first goal, 79' from a 64' substitute, Rose Lavelle, barely 10' to go and they finally net one, way too long.  Allowing a far inferior team, but not on this night, to hang around and give them a punchers chance not good at all. Beating a depleted team that your "B" Team should trounce, by one, is not a good thing with Brazil up next. Every game is a statement game, Europe is closing the gap in a big way, the US must make it known that they are still the big dogs, should they still be.

MLS Preseason Set

By Sean McCaffery, February 13, 2021

The regular season is planned as of now for April 17 and the teams will begin to kick it on the 1st as players report for a week of quarantine, testing etc. as camp gets rolling on the 8th of  March. I am sure many will choose or have it chosen for them to begin their 7 days in advance of the first. Those who wind up doing so are able to carry out individual training during that time or with the team in the set 7 days so long as all guidelines have been followed and carried out.

Mewis a No Go in SBC, Howell In

By Sean McCaffery, February 13, 2021

She sat out for her Man City Derby , a daunting victory in the Derby v United, now Samantha Mewis will not lace them up for the USWNT in the SheBelieves Cup either. Instead in comes the Junior out of Florida State, midfielder Jaelin Howell as they go a good number of years younger. She picked up an ankle injury facing Colombia on Jan. 22 and will keep at her rehab across the pond. Yes, this hurts the team as well as Sam was in fine form with many goals of late following up on a fine 2020.

Queensboro FC has become if I am right the first team here since the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers to be kitted out in Joma, though limited to the Academy, coaches and sporting staff. Today it was made known that Joma is to be the Founding Kit Sponsor for this spring with the Academy sides.

Brentwood Youth Soccer Club are Safe! at Home

By Sean McCaffery, February 3, 2021
Yes, we are living in a cancel culture of late, here is one of the rare instances it is a good thing. The RFP for the Brentwood State Park, home to the Brentwood Youth Soccer Club for many decades has been cancelled. Over 5,300 people signed petitions opposing this and it is we feel what is in fact best for the community and the youth of it. This club was key in getting the area pulled from the development plan of the recently departed Jerry Wolkoff.
