RBNY get ex-Celtic from ATL UTD

One would think if a player was coming out of Celtic, where NYCFC HC Rony Delia had been, he may have had the inside track. This former Hoosier, Andrew Gutman went from IU after 4 years, a Herman Trophy on the strength of 11g with 9 assists over 23 games on the year and the semis of the NCAA's. His totals in Bloomington are 20g 17a over 90 matches. This output lead to a 3 year deal with Celtic FC on Jan. 1 of 2019. The venerable Scottish club put him out on loan to the USL Championship team, Charlotte Independence with 14 starts, he struck for a trio of gals and a sole assists over 1,260'.

RBNY Head of Sport, Kevin Thelwell informed "We're pleased to have Andrew join us. He has proven that he can play in MLS and has qualities that we think will fit well in our style of play. He is a solid defender, can contribute from wide areas going forward and has the physical attributes to meet the demands of our system." Interesting, as he is about the same age as Parker, and smaller in height and size. No, we do not know the ins and outs of the trade but to go smaller, and give up as much as $50K and the Natural 3rd round Pick in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft, maybe is a better deal than what they got out of Houston for the fellow Long Islander and St. John's Soccer Alum?, a max of $1.5 mil and at least $900k. The max would all but zero them out on the whole of the contract he inked but did not fulfill, so there they are ahead, but on the field, lets see what the final accounting will be here. NYRB did not give up much to get him so there is a huge upside

The last 1.5 seasons Andrew plied his trade with FCC getting 31 games for one assist over 2,049'. After last year, the MLS Re-Entry draft had ATL get his rights from Cincy.
