Rocco Amoroso may not have been large in stature, but he was a giant in the soccer community!
He coined the phrase, "Building Character through Soccer" as a part of his Sportsmanship initiative that has spread across America.
For those that knew him or spent time with him, he always made time to say hello and always had a moment to share a kind word.
He was a gentleman of the sport of soccer and a friend to many including me and Soccer Long Island Magazine.
R.I.P. Rocco. God Bless.

This past week, Long Island’s largest newspaper, Newsday, reported that there was a “protest,” against the proposed soccer stadium at Belmont, located in Elmont on the borderline of Queens and Nassau County. It’s interesting that a gathering of about 12 or 15 people is now considered a “protest” on behalf of a community of several thousand. Here is a link to the article:

The Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) is very pleased to announce the National Youth License Course on two weekends, June 17, 18 and 19 plus June 24, 25 and 26.
