New York Red Bulls Return to Train Today

Like all other teams, these sessions are voluntary and individual at their training center. NJ Executive Order 148 is what allows the team back as it does all pro athletes to do their occupation once again, including person-to-person contact.  The previous safety measures we have detailed are to be followed as well as whatever the Gov't/municipality may mandate. NJ was similar to NY hit hard by this and thusly are almost 3 weeks behind the MLS is getting back to business.

NYCFC is Back at it Today

While adhering to the law of the land & the league, the NY MLS team is to begin voluntary individiual workouts, many other teams across the nation already have. In the wake of Gov. Coumo announcing that the pro teams based in NYS may begin, NY lagged behind other states by almost 3 weeks in this. We have aleady mentioned the rules for the league, which along with the states are to be followed.

Maybe the Canadian Tuxedo is Not Going Away, 'Caps Jean Up

At first this was a one day deal back in 1990 to benefit BC Children's Hospital , now it is a full blown, month long effort, culiminating on May 31. At the risk of being punny, this garb geared progam now takes on a new wrinkle as the Covid world we now live in has brought social distancing into our world, this is to be done virtually. Those involved are called on to sport their fav demin to show their support and help get the young ones out of the facility.

FCC Have Scored an Assit(ant)

Said Makkati has come to MLS in rejoining Jaap Stam as he had been on his staff at Jong Ajax, Reading, PEC Zwolle & Feyenord.

Said a native of Holland had a decade and a half as a pro, a fullback with Holland teams, Heerenveen, ADO Haag, Go Ahead Eagles, Zwolle and FC Emmen.

FCC Has a New HC

Jaap Stam is the new coach and has added a new assistant as well for this MLS team, as announced by GM Gerard Nijkamp.

At just 47 he is now at the helm of his 4th club, Reading of England from 2016-'18 then Holland's PEC Zwolle 2018-'19 and last year Feyenoord. That followed a great 15 year stint in the pros with many top clubs across the Netherlands, England & Italy, PSV Eindhoven, Manchester Utd, Lazio, AC Milan & Ajax.

Sporting Kansas City Hosts Senior Photos at Children's Mercy Park

Given the ways of the world, the MLS team has been most gracious in having this event with professoinal photos for graduation taken over May 25-29. This is something I have never heard of before and allows for a different photo for the soccer enthusiast in all of us. UMB is presenting this unique opportunity and it is the most recent program for Sporting Serves, the philanthropic outreach of the team and The Victory Project came together with other community partners to help familes locally.

Get SJU Tough To Help Food Pantry

For the next week, ending May 26, the garb inspired by the Gov., son of a SJU alum and his words, "New York Tough" this aptly named "St. John's Tough" will support the SJU Bread & Life Blessed & Virgin Mary Help of Christians food pantry. This has been helping those in need in Brooklyn & Queens alike since 1982. It provides almost 3,000 meals daily via a soup kitchen, a mobile soup kitchen and food pantry Queens has aided with over 400 families and 1,000 people served there.
