2017 US Soccer Player of the Year Awards

The player of the year will be awarded in the followig categories, Disabled, Young Female, Young Male, Female and Male. The votes will be collected through 12:59 PM Dec. 12. Those eligible to vote are, national team coaches, their staff, capped players of 2017, US Soccer Board of Directors, select college head coaches and media.

The choices for Disabed players: Sean Boyle, Drew Bremer, Kevin Hensky & Michael Archer.

Eligible for Young Females: Tierna Davidson, Jailen Howell, Savannah McCkaskill, Sophia Smith, and Kate Wiesner.

Women's u 20 tourney

There are 2 days of games remaining at the 2017 Women's Nike Int'l Friendlies. Dec 9, England v Brazil @ 3:30, USA v Finland @ 6:30 followed by Dec 11, Finaland v England @ 3:30 USA v Brazil at 6:30. All games may be seen on ussoccer.com, the US Soccer Facebook page and the US Soccer You Tube page.

Today the Girls USSDA games continue. Catch the second half of U 16/17 Breakers v Thorns then at 2:15 Real Colorado v Cross FIre @ 2:15. On the 10th, Solar SC v Was. Spirit Academy-VA @11am followed by NTH Top Hat v Penn Fusion @ 1PM. These may be viewed at ussoccerda.com, Face Book, and You Tube.

Hermann Finalists

Today, United Soccer Coaches announced the finalists for the MAC Hermann Trophy for this soccer season. This is the top prize, Player of the Year in Collegiate Soccer and will be awarded Jan. 5 at the Missouri Athletic Club in St Louis. For the men, Wake Forest Fwd, Sr. John Bakero, out of Standford Def. Sr. Tomas Hillard-Arce finally Indiana University Def. Sr. Grant Hillard. The womens list is equally impressive with UCLA Mid. Soph. Jesse Fleming,  along with Univ. of S. Carolina Fwd. Sr. Savannah McCaskill followed by Standford Fwd Sr. Andi Sullivan.

WC 2016 Conference Call Update

For the most part the conference call rehashed the numbers, some of which have already been stated here. there were a few questions aside from that and they include:

- How the bid might be in impacted if Sunil is not re elected? The reply was that the FIFA requirements are more on their mind, Sunil is the chair and that the election is with US Soccer.

- The follow up to that was if he is not elected does that cause any changes, the reply was with us, no.

- Asked if the # of venues would impact the economics of the cup, yes more cities would be more costs.

This afternoon conference call on World Cup 2026

To go over a survey and discuss progress made by the Joint North American Bid (USA, Canada & Mexico) there is a call, here are some brief points of the survey. 

- Just over half, 55% of all adults watched the Men's FIFA World Cup in the past.

- VIewership in Mexico is all but half of the USA 83% v 45%, and Canada 47%.

- In Mexico again almost 2x the avid watchers of this tourney with 33% & as USA has 17% and Canada 11%.

- 34% in North America are occasionla watchers of the World Cup, Mexico is 50%, Canada 36% and the USA just   28%. 

NYCFC mini-pitch Astoria

We attended the dedications at of 2 out of the 5 mini-pitches yesterday, the first being in Manhatten the other, Astoria. These are former baskeball courts that were underused, one at a school the Astoria one in a city park under the Triboro Bridge, across the street from historical Astoria Park.
