By Sean McCaffery, November 22, 2018

A win over Cameroon was the highlight of this trip to Uruguay for the young ladies in red White & Blue as the same fate met them last night as it did in facing a strong Korean side, a loss. Although the Germans were spotted a goal early at 4', on a dfk, the reply to this was very strong.  If not for some great work by the German 'keeper and disappointing finishing on behalf of the US they would have taken a first half lead by a few.

By Sean McCaffery, November 20, 2018

It was well done by US Soccer to list the female nominees first as they had an undefeated year and far more successes over the 2018 season.

So as it should be, ladies first, the nominees all from the USWNT are Julie Ertz, Tobin Heath, Lindsey Horan, Alex Morgan & Megan Rapione. Despite the girlfriend of Megan being from Syosset and a very accomplished youth player in her day, I am going with Alex Morgan. A synopsis of each nominee and their year.

Still a shutout, but a 5 goal swing as Haiti wins on the strength of Etienne

By Sean McCaffery, November 18, 2018

From last year and a 3-0 loss to this year, a 2-0 win, mostly played with 10 men, but a lead, Haiti made quite the turn around facing Nicaragua. It was foul filled, with cards given later in the game and saw this tiny caribbean nation dominate a game start to finish. The boisterous crowd in Managua did little to deter the visitors or engergize the home team.  It was not replayed much but the Haitian player who was sent off seemed to strike his adversary in the throat and then he himself fell?  The stricken player stayed on.
