FC Bayern Munich and ESPN ink Historic First Content Alliance

The most successful team in German soccer has joined its inital worldwide content sharing deal with ESPN the US based and worlds leading sports entertainment company. This is also a first for  ESPN with a global team, ESPN has the rights to use and share the club's video, access driven features, pre and post game match reports, press briefings, team travelogue and other items over their full lineup of programming in the US, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean.

3rd Round Scheduling for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup

US Soccer came up with the games and locations frt the 3rd round to be played May 22-23 then those 24 winners will advance, with pro teams from USL, NPSL, PDL and local qualifying teams. Following that they will meet up with the MLS teams June 6, that draw will be held May 24. The remaing schedule is May 24, fourth round draw, Fourth Round June 6, Round of 16 draw June 7, Round of 16 June 20, Quater finals July 18, Semi finals Aug 8, FInal Sept 26 (tentative). Chicago Fire v Houston Dynamo on National TV

This game to be played Sunday May 20 @ 3p.m. CT will be on UniMas. It will be the '98 Throwback Match with $2 hot dogs presented by Red Hot Chicago. Chicago will seek to move a game closer to .500 overall facing Houston with a 6-9-8 record yet far better in the friendly home confines of Toyota Park at 4-3-4. A pair of Dynamo players had time in the Windy City with DaMarcus Beasley achiving MLS All-Star status twice while there 2000-'04 as they took the US Open Cup in 2000 & '03 and he notched 18 goals with 28 assists over 134 total games.

Roby Young inducted into the Jewish Sports Heritage Assoc. HOF

Roby Young, a top international player captaining Israel in the late 60's, trememdous club player, named player of the millennium  for his club team of Hapoel Haifa, Soccer Bowl winner with the New York Cosmos, decades at the Buckley School and he had coached both the men and women at Queens College. Roby is not just one of the best soccer people I know, he is one of the best people I have met, having known him since 1982 and accompanied him as he took his middle son, Irad and his youth team to the FIFA World Cup in Mexico in 1986.

CANADA WINS 1990 NORTH AMERICAN NATIONS CUP

Soccer Long Island Magazine rewinds this week to almost three decades ago, when a Canadian men's national team’s success of qualifying for several FIFA tournaments (Olympic Games, World Cup, etc.) helped lead them to the 1990 North American Nations Cup.

The North American Cup, that included Mexico and United States, was held entirely at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, British Columbia from May 6-13, 1990.

Jacksonville Armada, Miami FC 2 Advance To U.S. Open Cup Second Round

Jacksonville Armada FC and Miami FC 2 of National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) advanced to the second round of 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday evening, after posting shut out victories over Sima Águilas of Premier Development League (PDL) and United States Adult Soccer Association’s Red Force FC, respectively.

Hudson River Derby NYRB 4-0 NYCFC

In a game that was all but over no sooner than it began and harkened back to the 7-0 NYRB win at Yankee Stadium, the home team was dominant. It was 2-0 minutes in ending 4-0 and it was not that close. The winners came out with such high energy keeping the visitors back on their heels and never looked back. This may have served as the coming out party for Kaku as he drew first blood with his third goal and assisted on the next just 2 minutes later then on the goal by BWP half an hour after that.

Late Goal by Ottowa Downs Penn FC

With a goal in the last 3 minutes of regular time, The Canadian team beat the previously undefeated at home Penn FC. Colin Falvey put away the ball following a corner but it was not without controversy as the Penn back stop took a blow to the back putting him to the ground, as Colin brought the ball in and into the goal  gk Lewis was trying to recover. Ottowa did play a strong game, hitting the framework twice. Penn FC surged in the attack for the balance of the game, but the visitors packed the box and got their initial win of the season.

Sporting KC extends Peter Vermes, Head Coach and Techical Director through 2023

From NJ, former stalwart on the USMNT, Peter Vermes is now tied to the club for another 5 years. stating, "I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to continue to lead this club.
