Ledula goes right and Bardic hits from near, NY 2-0 Hartford City FC

By Sean McCaffery, May 21, 2019

Still standing at the top of the standings with a 5-0-0 start to this season, NY swept a pair of league games in New England while dropping one in Lamar Hunt US Open Cup play. Ledula came in for the prodigal Cosmo, David Diosa at the half and the former Pioneer got the goal just just 4 minutes in. Junior Burgos woke everyone up as he rocked the frame of the goal with his go and won the crossbar challange.

By Sean McCaffery, May 21, 2019

June 6 will be the first night of the soccer film festival Kicking & Screening, it will be the night of women's soccer, themed "Against All Odds" supported by local NWSL team, Sky Blue. The subject of the short, Tracy Hamm and her battle to get coaching certifications and then the pitfalls while getting them is very well depicted in "Coach" which I have now seen multiple times.

A Win So Nice We Cover it Twice, NYRB 1-0 Atl Utd

By Sean McCaffery, May 20, 2019

In both good and bad ways, although the bad was not so bad and might have been better than if it had not occurred, Long Island players played a pivotal role in the win for the Red Bulls. I just confused myself. First, the good which came last. The second  assist to Tom Barlow, an early 2nd half sub was suppllied by a late first half sub due to injury to Ivan, replaced by Massapequa's Sean Nealis. This was for an already depleted defense, minus USL Defender of the Year, Aaron Long all game and TIm Parker for the last 59' of the game due to a red card.

Street Soccer Fund Raiser at The Jane Hotel

By Sean McCaffery, May 20, 2019

Such a great event, rub elbows with amongst others, Christian Fuchs, just days before the opening event at his Hudson Sports Complex, a great guy we have intervied the last two years at the Steve Nash Foundation game. Former player for Commack Soccer Club who by the way was also in the MLS, and does some soccer on TV now, and ran for president of USSF,Kyle Martino with the best hair in the game.  Not to mention Bradley Stuver and John Berman. The Jane Hotel is a historic site, located just off the West Side Hwy it was designed by the same man who did part of the Ellis Island Complex.

Barlow parleys a great cross from Royer into the win, 1-0 over ATL

By Sean McCaffery, May 19, 2019

What was the story of the game, the 35' Red Card to Long Islander, Parker, the shutout streak by the visiting Atlanta United, NY seeking revenge of their season ending loss to the visitors, no I say. Their preserverence to stay strong all game not taking chances, keeping a stout defense even after Ivan left injured for yet another Long Islander, Sean Nealis. NY held the ball well throughout the 2nd half to kill time, laid back a bit but not too much, team defense swarming every time, waiting for that one chance to strike.

RBNY V Atl Utd

By Sean McCaffery, May 19, 2019

Is it too early in the season yet to call a game a big game, if not then this one is. NY leads the short series 3-0-1 but that 1 is far more imprtant than were the 3 as it transpired in the 2018 Eastern Conference Final, the result of which will be felt this season, possibly many more into the future as the playoff system was then revamped. Follow the game on FS1, FOX Sports Go & NYRB Radio on TuneIn, yes it is nationally televised.

NY Cosmos prove to be well greater than Greater Lowell Rough Diamonds

By Sean McCaffery, May 19, 2019

The NY Cosmos bounced back in sparkling fashion, spanking the opposition 7-1. Though out of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup they are quite in the thick of things in the NPSL. Their 7 c' or rather g's finshed the Rough Diamonds in no time. The opening half closed with NY up 3-0, with a pair of goals from Charlie Ledula and a pk conversion by Junior Burgos. 4 more would be mined off the Diamonds in the second stanza, by Salvator Barone, Bledi Bardic and a brace(let) against the Diamonds by Aly Hassan.
