Liverpool FC, Sporting CP Play To 2:2 Draw At Yankee Stadium

Liverpool FC, 2018-19 UEFA Champions League Winner, played to a 2:2 draw against Sporting CP of Portugal on Wednesday evening before crowd of 31,112 fans at Yankee Stadium in Bronx, N.Y.

It was the 18-time Portuguese champion that struck first in the match, that was for the Western Union Cup, as the country’s international midfielder Bruno Fernandes fired a 22 yarder that was misjudged by Belgium’s international goalkeeper Simon Mignolet of Liverpool for the 1:0 lead in fourth minute of play.

Red Bulls 1 up Orlando

At 1-0, another shutout by Luis Robles with the 7th goal from Brian White at 32' got the visitors the win yesterday. This was the last of a trio of games in 8 days, leaving the team in the thick of things for the playoffs with 34 points from their 10-8-4 record. In those 8 days and 3 games, 6 of 9 points were secured, those 3 were lost in a poorly played game with Toronto and all goals in the Hudson River Derby had calls to thank for them, not encouraging for the higher level of play expected in the playoffs.

Cosmos Defeat FC Baltimore; Capture NPSL Northeast Region Title

New York Cosmos topped visiting FC Baltimore, 3:1, to capture 2019 NPSL’s (National Premier Soccer League) Northeast Regional Title at Uniondale’s Mitchel Athletic Complex on Sunday evening.

Forward Issac Acuna gave the hosts the lead in the fifth minute-mark, but midfielder Nick Gumbs tied it for Baltimore just before the intermission.

Baltimore was reduced to 10 players after defender Joseph Glos received a straight red card by the referee in the 60th minute.

NC Courage Look to keep their tear alive facing Chicago

The Red Stars blow into town, to face the red hot Courage at 6-2-4 including a 5 game undefeated streak, leading the league in goals, assists, goal differential, shots & shots on goal, very offensive numbers. This marquee match will be shown on ESPN2 with 14 players on either side from the just completed World Cup , this is their 3rd meet this year one a tie, the other a 3-1 Red Star victory. Last game, NC beat the Reign 2-0, July 13 with Lynn WIlliams getting the opening goal at 22', as Kristen Hamilton put the ball into her at her feet, for her 5th of the year.

Road Warrior Red Bulls Charge into Orlando

WIth this being their 4th out of 5 games played away, the road weary Red Bulls are hoping to leave Exploria Stadium with a W. This is the 11th time they match up, with NY holding a slight edge at 5-4-1, but 0-2-1 in their last visits there, and both losses were one goal games, as recently as the March match that saw former Red Bull Kljestan getting the sole goal.

This representitive of the Vancouver Whitecaps is in the running to have $25,000 donated to the charity of his choosing at the MLS All-Star Game July 31 in Orlando. The MLS WORKS Comunity MVP sets out to honor those utilizing soccer in making changes with their comunity for the better of course. 2020 sees Leagues Cup go to 16

MLS & LIGA MX today announced the 8 teams this year will double next as they pit teams from both of the highest level leagues in North America. Getting in is set by way of the 8 out of MLS being the top 4 of each conference. LIGA MX participants will be determined by the 2019 Apertura champion, 2020 Clausura champion, 2019-20 Copa MX champion followed by the 5 top teams in the Apertura 2019-Clausura 202o regular seasons who have not qualified for the Cup. This year it all begins next week.

Agolli’s Goal Boost Cosmos Over Brooklyn Italians In NPSL’s North Atlantic Final

Albanian international midfielder Ansi Agolli’s goal boost hosts New York Cosmos to a 1:0 victory against Brooklyn Italians SC in 2019 NPSL’s (National Premier Soccer League) North Atlantic Conference Final at Uniondale’s Mitchel Athletic Complex on Wednesday evening.

Agolli broke the scoreless deadlock in the 72nd minute-mark firing a one-time shot from 25 yards into the right side of Brooklyn net off an assist from U.S. international midfielder Danny Szetela.
