NYRB & Crew Sunday Leg 1 Conf. Semis

By Sean McCaffery, November 2, 2018

Going in, the Crew lead this series, 32-31-11 at MAPFREE, the Crew dominate by far, 20-12-6. Looking to even it up Sunday, then taking the overall lead are the NYRB, Supporters Shield winners, most points EVER and many other accolades earned this 2018 season. Having almost twice the win total as their opponent, the 14-11-9 Crew would have one think it is quite the mismatch. See how it plays out Sunday at 3p.m. On ESPN, ESPN Deportes & NYRB Radio with Spanish coverage on TuneIn.

Next for Ramos & Co., US Virgin Islands

By Sean McCaffery, November 2, 2018

With the next game set for Nov. 3, the US U-20's have one more day to prep for this game. They took an early commanding lead with Puerto Rico, and their one lapse did cost them a goal. Luckily it did not happen in the World Cup may have been quite the fatal mistake against an Italy or France, etc. In the end it was a 7-1 result.  Some more quick information below on the team and tourney.

History of the Tourney:

Fire Defender, Christian Dean Hangs up his Boots

By Sean McCaffery, November 1, 2018

"Thank you to my family and friends for the past 5 years, I owe you everything." He stated as he bid his farewell. Mid last season, he came down from the 'Caps, getting 5 games in the Windy CIty. Nelson Rodriguez, Fire Pres. & GM informed, It's unfortunate that Christian suffered so many injuries that kept him from realizing his potential." Another 1st round pick calling it a game this week for Chicago, Christian was picked by the Vancouver Whitecaps in the 2014 MLS Super Draft, after a stellar career at UC_Berkeley.

Baby Bulls are off to Derby City & Louisville FC

By Sean McCaffery, November 1, 2018

In very familar territory for me as my last team was in Louisville, NYRBII are meeting this opponent for what is now the third straight  year in the Eastern Conference Finals. Should familarity truly breed contempt this will be quite the contemptous match up. See it at 7:30 Friday evening on ESPN+. The 2017 season came to a screaching halt here on pk's. NY has had the hot hand away from home and look for their 5th straight away victory and have played 9 games unbeaten, seeking to get that into double digits.

Robes & Long of for Play of the Year at their Positions

By Sean McCaffery, October 31, 2018

It is no surprise for Robles, given his longeviity and quantity of shutouts that he is up yet again for Goalkeeper of the Year, having taken it home already in 2015, now poised to be only the 5th to earn it 2x. Long, a cog in the defense that lead to the many shutouts and this recent MLS All Star & USMNT member is a product of the developmental system of the Red Bulls, now looking at taking the title of Defender of the Year Home with him.

Is it Tah Tah for TATA?

By Sean McCaffery, October 31, 2018

One of the biggest "Gets" yet for MLS has been the coach at Atlanta United. They seem to be the apple of everyone's eye in US Soccer. Great young players, amazing stadium, attendance records for MLS. Already though not surprising some players are said to be headed elsewhere, I am sure the deep pocketed owner, Arthur Blank will fill those voids quickly. Now as they head into the playoffs having just lost to Toronto, headed by Massapequa native, William Manning, costing them the Supporters Shield. I am catching wind of the only head coach they have had departing to coach Mexico.
