Know a Soccer Builder, Help Them Get a Fricker Award

No, I did not mispell a curse word, the nomination time is now upon us for the US Soccer Werner Fricker Builder Award. This tribute is given on an annual basis and is the highest of honors given out by US Soccer to a person(s), below are the criteria.

-Can be a person or group who is/are alive at time of nomination.

-Minimum of 20 years of service in Soccer.

     -Players may count their playing time, but must have continuted in the game following that.

-Their service must go above and beyond in such a way as to separate them from the crowd.

Fire Player Named to Polish National Team

With a large Polish population in the Windy City, it is great to have a player for the National Team there. Przemyslaw Frankowski the local midfielder for the MLS team Chicago Fire, has been tapped for a pair of upcoming games in the UEFA Championship qualifiers, facing Israel & Slovenia. The last two game days in the qualifiers will see them in Teddy Stadium, Jerusalem Nov. 16 at 1:45 p.m. CT, then at home for Slovenia at the National Stadium in Warsaw. Poland is perched in the #1 spot in Group G having 19 points.

Vlatko Brings an Asst. With Him to USWNT

The new HC of the USWNT with his first game all but upon him, Nov. 7, yesterday added Milan Ivanovic to his techincal staff. Milan had been with Andonovski over his last 4 seasons coaching the Reign & FC KC, following a pro career as a player. This would of course include the NWSL title run with KC in 2015. Vlatko said of him, "Milan is a coach who is extremely dedicated and passonate about helping players reach their top level on the field." Half a dozen years playing under both asst.

Mihailovic of the Fire goes Pre-Camping

With the MLS being just about done, Gregg Berhalter HC of the USMNT has called in 20 players for a pre-camp in Bradenton Florida before the first of 2 games in the Concacaf League of Nations. IMG Academy will be the host location for Mihailovic from Nov. 2-9, on the 6th those in the standard camp will be announced, that will begin on the 10th in advance of the game on the 15 in Orlando, where camp will then move on to. He was last in camp over this past summer and the Gold Cup, the year sees him with 5 caps thus far, a pair of those coming in the Gold Cup.

Berhalter Brings in 20 to Beat Canada & Cuba

As expected, the USMNT trounced Cuba and as not expected they dropped the away leg in Toronto in a 2-0 poorly played game. Pre- Camp opens tomorrow in Bradenton with the first game being in Orlando on the 15th with Canada, then off to the Caymans for Cuba on the 19th. European based players will begin on the 10th for the formal camp in Orlando.  Nov. 6 is the reveal date for that camp's invitees.

Vlatko Votes in his Initial Roster

Introduced to the public some 2 days after his acutal appointment the new HC of the USWNT has his games in just 8 days and now has 2 dozen coming into camp in advance of this first game Nov. 7 v Sweden in Maprfee Stadium in Columbus, then just 3 days later in Jacksonville with Sweden. Tickets are now avail. at ussoccer.com. Coming back are 17 playerrs from the 2019 World Cup winning team, 5 are out 4 due to injury including, Crystal Dunn of Rockville Centre, Kelley O'Hara, Ali Kreiger & Tierna Davidson, out due to her recently announced pregnancy is Alex Morgan.

Andonovski to Reign Over the USWNT

Hardly a surprise, Vlatko Andonovski will now lead the best team in the world and have an early test in just over a week with Sweden, a historic foe Nov. 7 in Columbus. The 9th coach in team history follows a number of legends in Anson Dorrance, Tony DiCicco, Pia Sundhage of Sweden & of course Jill Ellis, not an easy task by any means. At just 43, he takes the reins following a highly successful run in all 7 years of the NWSL now he gets to scratch that 7 year itch with a team of rock stars.

USA U-17's Knot up Japan

They now sit in 3rd as the top 4 #3 teams will advance to the Sweet 16, now, surprisingly ahead of the Netherlands, their next opponent. Crisitian Ramirez of the Fire Called up for Panama

The first year player for the Fire will be playing for his country during the November games, he now has 7 caps since 2016 and is now going to be in camp for a pair of games. During the Concacaf Nations League game on Nov. 15 at home v Mexico and again the 19th hosting Boliva in a friendly he may get half of the 5 games he saw with the Fire. Cristian played 9 games in the USL Championship with the Las Vegas Lights getting a pair of goals.
