Sky Blue Inks a pair of Draft Picks

By Sean McCaffery, February 12, 2020

Kaleigh Riehl & Evelyne Viens are now officialy in the fold. Viens has a 2 year deal as Riehl a 1, each have another one year option.

GM Alyse LaHue stated "As part of our draft day preparations it was imperative to us to look at playes that would be excited and ready to join Sky Blue from day one and help take us to the next level. Evelyne was always a top target for our club and frankly, we did not think Kaleigh would be available at the #11 spot, so being able to bring in both players of this high caliber is tremendous.

Viens:

NYRB are off to Tuscon

By Sean McCaffery, February 12, 2020

Did they need to travel this preseason, the weather has been so mild? Many other teams are there and most from the north do go south to avoid the typical winter weather. All Cup games are to be streamed on NewYorkRedBulls.com.

A Chat with USSF VP Candidate, John Motta

By Sean McCaffery, February 11, 2020

Let me preface this with the fact that we did reach out in a pair of ways over a week ago to also speak with his opponent, Cindy Parlow Cone, the curreent USSF VP. There was no reply fromo the Federation, so we are unable to give her equal time. A reply after this post would be too late, the idea was to ask each the same questions, and put the responses out at the same time, giving neither the advantage of hearing them and seeing the others answers. I would think that maybe we are too small which is fine but a reply would have been appropitate, anyways........

USWNT take the Olympic Qualifying Tourney Title

By Sean McCaffery, February 9, 2020

Though deadlocked for the first hour, Press could have had a few goals and McDonald among others, Naeher stopped a point blank go on goal by the top goal getter in international soccer, Christine Sinclair to preserve the USWNT not giving up a goal throughout these games. The largest of crowds for the team to play before was still a paltry 17,489, I wonder how big of an impact the weaker opponents had on attendance. The typical suspects scored for the victors including Lynn Williams along with a pair of assists and Lindsey Horan, her 6 goals were good for 2nd on the team.

From Serbia to Cascadia for Veselinovic

By Sean McCaffery, February 9, 2020

Ranko a CB out of FK Vojvodina from the SuperLiga is now with Vancouver, the 20 year old is on a one year loan and team option to buy the player outright, utilizing TAM for the transaction.

'Caps SD, Axel Schuster informed " At age 20, Ranko already has a lot of experience playing in a highly competitive league in Siberia. He sees MLS as the next challenge as he continues to develop as a player."

As the month ends, so too does the tenure of Jay Berhalter at USSF

By Sean McCaffery, February 8, 2020

Just days ago the USSF made it known that Jay would not be getting a position at the Federation, citing poor employee reviews, I would leave as well if only for making that public! It is Jay who announced his departure as the Chief Commercial & Strategy Officer in a few weeks time. Already detractors, ill informed at best are expecting him to wind up at MLS, as they claim the pair are intwined.

USWNT 4-0 Mexico

By Sean McCaffery, February 8, 2020

Now they are in for Tokyo, but do have the final tomorrow at 6p.m. ET on FS2 & Galavision facing Canada who overcame Mexico 1-0. What lineup is to be used, only one player has not seen the field in this tourney, do the next level of players get much time, a good look in a game I am sure Canada will be looking to win. Rose Lavelle had the first goal (video on the Facebook of Soccer Long Island Magazine), Mewis hit 2x, one an absolute bomb into the far corner, and Press followed her own rebound and chipped the 'keeper.
