The Fire, Fire HC Paunovic

By Sean McCaffery, November 13, 2019

The team started out poorly but did get it together more so towards the end of the season still, the top man last season is gone. Nelson Rodriguez, Chicago Fire President and GM stated "4 years ago, Pauno and the staff accepted the challange to help establish a football culture at the Fire. We are immeasurably thankful." His staff have also been involuntarily separated, from coaches to trainers to equipment managers. A pair spared are Eddie Rock Sr. Dir. Soccer Ops. & Alex Boler Sr. Mgr. Team Ops.

By Sean McCaffery, November 11, 2019

Let me state for openers, that the MVP should be whoever got the games played at Red Bull Arena. 'nuff said.

These awards were voted upon by teamates and coaches, including Newcomer of the Year, Defender of the Year, Unsung Hero, MVP & True Grit.

Newcomer of the Year: Paige Monaghan, with 20 starts out of her 23 games, this rookie had 1,759 minutes. Her first goals came as a brace facing the #2 team in the league, Chicago Red Stars in a 2-1 win, July 7.

Berhalter Taps His 23 to Save the Day in Concacaf Nations League

By Sean McCaffery, November 11, 2019

It is win or go home, although win or lose the will go home from the Caymans after facing Cuba on the 19th. The USMNT did this to themselves in losing to Canada for the first time in over 3 decades and doing so in spectacular fashion. Now they must beat them, which before they lost I would be certain of, then create a goal differential of at least 3 in the pair of games upcoming. A win with Canada should be far harder than beating Cuba by at least 2, no actually it should not.

The Calendar Year Ends as the time of Andonovski Begins

By Sean McCaffery, November 9, 2019

A happy year is coming to a close with the last game of 2019 facing Costa Rica Nov. 10 in TIAA Bank Field, Jacksonville FL at 8 ET on ESPN2 & TUDN. Their last match was a 3-2 win over Sweden in Columbus OH, but the end was a far closer than it should have been. This, the first match for new HC, Vlatko saw Carli Lloyd score a brace, and Christen Press finish out a great run for the 3rd score. Sweden capitalized on a major miscommunication between the keeper and defense of the US and poor marking to get 2 late goals and make it a bit more interesting than was wanted.

RBNY Names Team Award Winners for 2019

By Sean McCaffery, November 8, 2019

Today the team made their honorees for this past season. Danny Royer won the well deserved MVP, in the absence of BWP, he stood above the fray getting it done, this was sponsored by Alcatel. Defensive Plyaer of the Year went to Cristian Casseres Jr., no small feat with others playing in the back on their respective national teams. No surprise as he was a finalist for Humanitarian of the Year league wide, Luis Robles took home this distinction. Amro Tarek, is the Newcomer of the Year.

Torrent is 1.5 & Out With NYCFC

By Sean McCaffery, November 8, 2019

The writing on the wall may have been there for a bit, word of his being unhappy that it took him so long to get Heber. I was not there for the whole of the post TFC game presser, when he was said to have referred to the team as "they/them', if stated while I was present, I missed it. During this presser, an early question was met with a question, not the way to deal with anyone, but after a loss such as that, it is a bit understandable. Now the team enters it's 6th year and seeking the 4th coach, 1.5 seasons average per is not the way to find stability.

USWNT HC Berhalter Calls in 9 More to Camp

By Sean McCaffery, November 7, 2019

These several players have been added to the roster for the Concacaf Nations League games with Canada Nov. 15 in Orlando and Cuba Nov. 19 in the Cayamans. Those at the top of this list would be European based players, Christian Pulisic & Weston McKenie. Should Sergino Dest see time, he would then be cap tied to the team, so expect him to take the field. For just $25, tickets on ticketmaster, groups of 20 and up may go to ussoccer.com and game day at the door of Exploria Stadium are a great value. Pre camp included 20 players in Bradenton as many MLS players are already free.

USWNT Open Training Session

By Sean McCaffery, November 7, 2019

Having attended one such session during the summer's Victory Tour, I assure you should you be near TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville FL on Nov. 9 from 5-6 PM, GO. They will warm up near the fans, apperciate the signage, yells and all from the fans. It is a great way to get a bit of a sneak peek at these rock star players, and your first glimpse at the new HC, Vlatko. Yes, I know we have shown many photos of him already but not in action. Admission and parking are both gratis, with doors opening at 4:30 via the East Club Gate North for sections 37 & 38, opposite the bench side.
