A well seasoned soccer professional at all levels, already enshrined in the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame, Nick has now joined the technical staff returning to Vancouver. Greg Anderson the 'Caps VP of Soccer Operations told "Nick is a highly regarded and engaged coach who is very invested in the development of Canadian players." He holds a UEFA Pro License and over 3 decades in the game, Canadian HoF 2011, MLS and Canadian National Team coaching experience. From Vancouver in 2002 he began with the national team program then the 'Caps as a player coach that same year. At MLS, he was an asst.

Fire & RBNY Complete a Deal from Draft Day

Amando Moreno a midfielder who has had some USMNT experience has been picked up in exchange for the 32nd pick in this most recent SuperDraft. As we had noted, the announcer had stated that the RBNY had a timeout before ever announcing that the trade of the pick had been done, see our photo below with the trade being in the works. The 23 year old midfielder  was with RBII in 2018 with 30 games for 11 goals and 4 assists, including the GWG to put them past FC Cincy in their last USL game.

'Caps bring Derek Cornelius Back Home

This move brings the 2018 Canadian Youth International Player of the Year who had his first game with the senior side in 2018. Coming over from Serbian Side FK Javor Ivanjica, he has also played with German teams VIB Lubeck & VIR Neurmunster. Vancouver HC, Marco Dos Santos informed "Derek is one of the top young players in a new generation of Canadian talent."  He is with the 'Caps signed for 2 years and options for 2021 & 2022, once his paperwork is finalized he will join the roster. This marks the 5th addition to the squad since Marc took the wheel just in Nov. From Ajax Ont.

Fire Fly to Spain to open 2019 Preseason

Starting off the new year with a bang, being heavily involved in the United Soccer Coaches Convention as their city hosted it, the FIre now announce that Jan. 23 they begin a 15 day training camp in Spain. During this time, they will have 2 games, Feb.3 facing La Liga AFE at La Ciudad Del Futbol de Las Rozas, the training site of the Spanish national tea. Next up just 3 dyas after they take on Segunda Div. B side CF Fuenlabrada at Estadio Fernando Torres, then back to the WIndy City Feb. 7. Next up is a trip to Charleston SC for the 2019 Carolina Challange Cup for a trio of games. Feb.

USSF With new YNT, U-14 ID Begins

In Nov., 48 players were called in for a camp, now 80 for a west regional camp. This falls in behind the thought of growing and raising the level of the player pool, this new arrangement is to join the US Soccer Talent ID Dept. (TID) & YNT Progrmas. The idea is to better find and bring into the fold a wider range of high level players to the system with the U-15 & 20's. Described as a mini camp to judge and motivate those with a large upside and speed their growth, next season the same occurs for the girls.
