Zerboni on Ice with Sky BLue

By Sean McCaffery, January 26, 2021

Yes, the local NWSL team lost a USWNT player in Mal Pugh but now have secured the services of McCall Zerboni for the next pair of years, the team  holds an option on a 3rd for the now 34 year old. She had some time with the USWNT and has plied her trade locally over the last year. During the Challenge Cup, she played the full of the games in her 5 starts, completing an impressive 78% of her passes, with an assist in leading the team to the semis. Her season came to a crashing halt with a torn meniscus during those games, spending the season in rehab.

USA vs Colombia: Thoughts on First Game Match, Jan 18, 2021 There was no doubt that the USWNT would have an easy time of their match against the 26th ranked FIFA Women’s National Team in Colombia. Indeed, the final score of 4-0 does not reflect the dominance by the “Stars & Stripes” over “Las Cafeteras”. The basic stat sheet says it all: USA/Colombia

By Sean McCaffery, December 29, 2020

In the recent past, the local NWSL team, Sky Blue have been adding players to their stable, today they let a veteran and a USWNT player go to Chicago. Young Mallory Pugh and a player they had for half a dozen years, Sarah Woldmoe have blown out of town to the Windy City. Yes, this deal yields SBFC as many as 3 first round draft picks, a pair in the upcoming 2021 Draft and a conditional one in the 2022, yes it is for  players, 7 INTERNATIONAL SLOTS IN 2021 & '22, but you are giving up 2 known entities for the immediate but still future. I am not so sure this sits well with me.

By Sean McCaffery, December 29, 2020

Yes, Ronald Matarrita has left, NYCFC will gain at most $600,000 in GAM for him, sold on the cheap if you ask me. He was quite the dynamic back line player for the MLS club in NYC, an international player, so some cache has also gone off to the mid west.
