NYCFC Loses the Game and Heber

By Sean McCaffery, September 25, 2020

It seems none of the subs worked out for Rony Delia, one gets a caution shortly after going in, another lost for the season. Forget the score line, the loss of Heber is season long and impactful. With Maxi still not back to fitness, the offense took a massive blow. We were half a section up in the seats and at the midpoint of the goal, he went down, hard and his defender was calling for the doctors as soon as he hit the floor then for the stretcher as well long before the ref or teammates.

Heber out for the rest of 2020

By Sean McCaffery, September 25, 2020

This was bad, as soon as he went down, his defender was signalling for the trainer as well as a stretcher as Heber lay on the ground. He stayed with him all the way until he was removed from the field. His right ACL is torn. He will soon go under the knife and begin a painstaking recovery, he has one of the best spirits I have ever encountered and I expect him to come even better.  Boa Sorte Heber.

NYRB 4-1 Inter Miami CF

By Sean McCaffery, September 25, 2020

So many firsts here, the first time NYB has played in South Florida in well over a decade, the first time facing Inter Miami, the first time facing ex-captain Luis Robles, the first game facing each other for the Nealis brothers of Massapequa.

As we were at the NYCFC game at RBA of all places, we were unable to see the game live, but did watch a re-broadcast yesterday. A massive thank you to Shep Messing for remarking on a question I put to Sean Nealis during a press event relative to who his family would be rooting for.

MLS & Pluto Re-Up

By Sean McCaffery, September 24, 2020

To this day, I still do not know if Pluto is once again a planet or just a rock and Disney character, but that is for another day.

In a release from MLS, Pluto TV is described as "the leading free streaming television service." Quite the misnomer if it is on them the lack of quality in both audio and video of recent games I have watched. Minutes have passsed with no video and I saw more of their dead screen image than those games.

Zoom with the Keeper Thursday

By Sean McCaffery, September 23, 2020

A great movie directed by Marcus Rosenmuller will be discussed with Marcus in one of our future Zoom sessions. A soccer movie on the life of Bert Troutmann  of Man City from 1949-'64 he is still a player near the top number of games for the team. He arrived in England as a Nazi, having been awarded the Iron Cross among other citations and was a member of the Hitler Youth. While held in England as a POW, he was taken out of the camp to play soccer and after the war, made his way to Man City.

7 p.m on MSG see RBNY & FCC

By Sean McCaffery, September 19, 2020

The time to get their first consecutive wins of 2020 is now upon them, will the Red Bulls be able to get that done? Last game in DC, Aaron Long equalled Stever Jolley for tops in goals with 7 among defenders. Maybe 2 wins straight and maybe their 4th blank sheet of the year, having shutout Atlanta, NYCFC & DC?

Aarong Long stated after the last game "I think we have no shortage of talented center backs on this team. It was a flawless performance from the 3 of us. We were very confortable. I think that week of rest kind of helped us back there. It was a good performance."
