A severe hit was taken on the future of the Whitcaps in the MIB games with this loss. Vancouver will wind up their Group B games Thurs. 9 a.m. ET with the Fire, locally to their city on TSN & TSN Radio 1040. To stay in the tourney they need a win and need help from other teams, also in the balance with this game are 3 points in the MLS standings.

To mis quote a good book, he who is first shall be third. They ran away last season with the East Conference title and MLS lead in points, only to crash out of the playoffs at CitiField facing Toronto, now they may have played their last game in the MIB despite winning. They are now dependant on others as they did not control their own destiny going into this most recent game with the first year team. Their 2nd half was far better and even better still after the water break. The addition of Parks was an injection of energy.

One factoid I pulled out of this is that once your team is out of the BIM tourney, your staff, even one to scout may not remain and catch the games live, but the USMNT HC & father of a Crew player is able to look on? Yes his presence will in theory benefit the league as he evaluates players for his team but if I have upwards of 40 people, get eliminated today, I may not leave 1 behind.

I will keep my part brief, as I have no positive take on this game other than I do not recall anyone getting injured. The NYRB were out worked, a rarity and I am sure they heard about it post game and will pay for it next training session. Zardes was not accounted for, there was no fire to their play, poor ball movement, marking was all but non existent.
