This was my first game with Soccer Long Island Magazine and it was facing my hometown DC United at historic Yankee Stadium no less. It was a cool damp day for a hard fought battle of eastern division rivals, NYCFC & DC United did not disappoint. Both teams had their chances on goal and the pair of USMNT goalkeepers were more than up to the task.

Not here to defend a title, so much as to win another, the 2018 NWSL champs are back at it under the tutelege of Long Island Legend, Paul Riley. Almost 40 players are expected with no less than 10 not yet in camp due to Natioinal Team commitments, we hope to see all of those tomorrow facing tammate Debinha. Our friend, Shannon Horgan who had us out to a few of her events and a training session that left me exhausted is in camp for her former youth coach as non roster invitee, she should have no issues with any of the fitness work whatsoever.

Coach had this to say of Frankowski: "He was fantastic. I think the same as the whole team until we conceded the first goal. I think the performance of the team, the plan worked perfectly. We controlled the game, created bunch of opportunities, clear opportunities."
readComing out of the gate strong, an Ebenezer Ofori goal assisted by USMNT standout Jonathan Lewis at 13' and closing out the opening half of the year in similar fashion, Alex RIng assisted by newcomer Alexandru Mitrita for his first of what I am sure will be many MLS points at the 45' mark.
readFordham grad Matt Lewis, after a year in USL having signed with MLS team Sporting KC then off to their USL team, Swope Park Rangers. Matt stated, "I'm stoked to be a part of the historic New York Cosmos. I feel I have a lot to prove. I would like to thank Joe Barone, Carlos Mendes, I plan to be a part of a championship." While with Swope Park, he had 12 regular season games. At Fordham he had 84 games with 5 goals and assists.
