'Caps bring Derek Cornelius Back Home

This move brings the 2018 Canadian Youth International Player of the Year who had his first game with the senior side in 2018. Coming over from Serbian Side FK Javor Ivanjica, he has also played with German teams VIB Lubeck & VIR Neurmunster. Vancouver HC, Marco Dos Santos informed "Derek is one of the top young players in a new generation of Canadian talent."  He is with the 'Caps signed for 2 years and options for 2021 & 2022, once his paperwork is finalized he will join the roster. This marks the 5th addition to the squad since Marc took the wheel just in Nov. From Ajax Ont.

Fire Fly to Spain to open 2019 Preseason

Starting off the new year with a bang, being heavily involved in the United Soccer Coaches Convention as their city hosted it, the FIre now announce that Jan. 23 they begin a 15 day training camp in Spain. During this time, they will have 2 games, Feb.3 facing La Liga AFE at La Ciudad Del Futbol de Las Rozas, the training site of the Spanish national tea. Next up just 3 dyas after they take on Segunda Div. B side CF Fuenlabrada at Estadio Fernando Torres, then back to the WIndy City Feb. 7. Next up is a trip to Charleston SC for the 2019 Carolina Challange Cup for a trio of games. Feb.

USSF With new YNT, U-14 ID Begins

In Nov., 48 players were called in for a camp, now 80 for a west regional camp. This falls in behind the thought of growing and raising the level of the player pool, this new arrangement is to join the US Soccer Talent ID Dept. (TID) & YNT Progrmas. The idea is to better find and bring into the fold a wider range of high level players to the system with the U-15 & 20's. Described as a mini camp to judge and motivate those with a large upside and speed their growth, next season the same occurs for the girls.

A major coupling will be made public Tue. Jan. 22 at 6p.m. at Pioneer Court on the Magnificent Mile, Downtown Chicago. Following the official release of the details, the Club will just across the street at FIre on the Mile, the first floor of the Wrigley Building, host the first media availability of 2019 for the club. Select players, HC Veljiko, and GM Nelson Rodriguez will rep the club while Motorola sends out their Head of Partnerships, North America Kelly Wilkie all of whom will be avail. for interviews.

FC Dallas Gets a Game with FC Bayern

NYCFC Preseason Games in Orlando

This first full season under HC Torrent will see NYCFC again in Florida as they are there Feb. 12-21, facing Orlando Feb. 16 then Minnesota Feb. 20 in the first iteration of the Orlando CIty Invitational to be contested at the Orlando City Soccer Stadium in Orlando. Sporting Director Claudio Reyna informed "We're excited to return to Orlando for another preseason." Coach Torrnet added "This will be an opportunity to continue to  implement our style and tactical approach." They then go to Nashville FC Feb. 22 to play the USL side.

New Members added to the Techical Staff @ USMNT

As stated in a conference call, USMNT HC Gregg Berhalter has begun to fill in the voids on his staff. Just as his appointment has been subject of many questions due to the position his brother holds in the federation, these picks may very well do the same. Josh Wolff, a former member of the USMNT is now an asst. while Steve Tashjian is now the Head Performance Expert with Darcy Norman tapped as Movement & Conditioning Coach. Wolff & Tashjian had both filled the same roles for Gregg with the Crew.

Open Tryouts for NCFC Coming Up

A pair of tryouts have been set aside for this USL side to see who would like to kick it with them this season. Jan 28 @ 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 and Tues. Jan. 29 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., again on Sat. Apr. 27 running 3-4:30 p.m, then Sun. Apr. 28 stating 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m., both at WakeMed Soccer Park. If they do not have an available field there, it will be relocated to another field in the area. Both carry a $110 fee and include a ticket to see NCFC take on Hartford Sat. Apr. 27.

NCFC Hoping this Loan Pays Dividends

Cameroon National Team member, Duval Wapiwo has arrived from MFK Vyskov and is just awaiting paperwork to be official. HC Dave Sarachan had this to say, "We're happy to sign a player like Duval." At just 18, he is now the Third player there from this same Czech. team. Wapiwo had been with Apejes FC de Mfou of the top flite in Cameroon, he is great on both the offensive and defensive sides of his midfield position.

Garza Out of USMNT Camp with Injury

FC Cincy defender Garza has suffered a low grad Quad. strain and is headed back to Cincy for treatment. I have but 2 words for Gregg Berhalter, TIm Parker, although he is not expected to be replaced. Jan. 29 they take on Panama in AZ at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN2, Uni Mas & UDN, then camp finishes with Costa Rica Feb. 2 in San Jose 3:30 p.n. ET on FOX, UniMas & UDN. Both teams played the US in the last qualifiers for the World Cup so there are some scores to settle here for the US.
