NYCFC Wins 1-0 over Inter Miami but Remain in Limbo

By Sean McCaffery, July 20, 2020

To mis quote a good book, he who is first shall be third. They ran away last season with the East Conference title and MLS lead in points, only to crash out of the playoffs at CitiField facing Toronto, now they may have played their last game in the MIB despite winning. They are now dependant on others as they did not control their own destiny going into this most recent game with the first year team. Their 2nd half was far better and even better still after the water break. The addition of Parks was an injection of energy.

NYCFC Presser for Inter Miami

By Sean McCaffery, July 19, 2020

One factoid I pulled out of this is that once your team is out of the BIM tourney, your staff, even one to scout may not remain and catch the games live, but the USMNT HC & father of a Crew player is able to look on? Yes his presence will in theory benefit the league as he evaluates players for his team but if I have upwards of 40 people, get eliminated today, I may not leave 1 behind.

Red Bulls drop one to the Crew 2-0

By Sean McCaffery, July 17, 2020

I will keep my part brief, as I have no positive take on this game other than I do not recall anyone getting injured. The NYRB were out worked, a rarity and I am sure they heard about it post game and will pay for it next training session. Zardes was not accounted for, there was no fire to their play, poor ball movement, marking was all but non existent.

'Caps Drop one to the 'Quakes

By Sean McCaffery, July 16, 2020

A late goal swamped the 'Caps as Shea Salinas made it 4-3 for the Cali. team late into injury time last night.

WIth half an hour of regulation time left, the team out of Canada was ahead 3-1, not as comfortable of a lead as one would have thought at the time. Ali Adnan, Cristian Dajome and an own goal were the diffference makers as the 'Caps played their first game in the MIB tourney. The 7 blocks in his first MLS game for Vancouver gave Ranko Veselinovic at just 21 the MLS game record in that category.

Red Bulls 1-0 Atlanta United

By Sean McCaffery, July 12, 2020

The new look New York Red Bulls, sans BWP & Robles had the twice injured Florian Valot and new GK David Jensen provide what they needed, for Jensen, the extra time had him put in some extra work with a pair of very late, points preserving saves. It was quite a while they held that  one goal lead as Flo Valo hit at 4' off a long assist from Kaku. It would have been a long time to do so but kudos to coach Armas in not parking the bus and keep getting at it on the offensive end. The frentic pace at the start of the game had Atlanta struggling for answers for the first 15 minutes or so.
