As noted on the Facebook page of Socer Long Island Magazine, a number of players with contracts that expired with the end of the 2017 season were not renewed by the NY Cosmos. Not so surprising as Ochieng had put out photos of him playing elsewhere. Arango may not have wanted to return, given little playing time, then his arm injury. Jakovic is a bit of a surprise although he played well in the Copa America and all season, so he may have been looking to move on/up.

DCU will welcome this new player to their new home for the coming season. The very accomplished player brings experience from World Cup Qualifiers and Copa Liberadores play. Then getting time in 5 out of the 7 remaining qualifying games and scoring his first international goal 6 days later as they faced Ecuador.

Having attended meeetings when the Cosmos were also seeking to develop the same parcel, this was vastly different. It was calmer, better organized yet a far bigger crowd. Both sides made their presentation, due to an accident on Souther State,  I was rerouted and missed most of that part but heard all of the questions from the attendees. Both groups seek to keep their building to the northern end, near to the existing club house of the almost 110 year+ racing site that hosts the last leg of the triple crown.
