Whitecaps get GK from Inter Miami

Expansion Draft selection, Bryan Merdith has come and gone from Miami without ever suiting up for them as he is now with Vancouver, he was traded for a 4th round pick in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft, not such a bad deal for either team as the better players are not exposed to the expansion drafts and the 4th round tends to not yield a high level player in the SuperDraft. The 'Caps added more experience to their team as this 9 year pro is now in their fold, between the Sounder & Earthquakes he had 8 years. He will link up with the 'Caps in South CA, during this, their preseason camp. Out of Scotch Plains NJ, the 30 year old netminder is as of now the #3 at his position. Ahead of him on the depth chart are team Player of the year for 2019, Maxime Crepeau and a 20 year old out of their Academy, Thomas Hasal.

Axel Schuster, SD informed "We are happy to welcome Bryan to the club. He will bring additional experience and leadershikp to the goup both on and off the pitch."

While with the Sounders for 3 years, he notched a pair of games in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup and another 25 with the Tacoma Defiance in the USL Championship.

Bryan added "I'm excited to join Whitecaps FC and look forward to helping the club as we enter a new season"

Ahead of the Expansion Draft in Nov. of 2019, Meredith was with the Sounders, in this his 2nd tour with them from 2016-'19 he had most of his time as a backup. He began as a pro there in 2011, following being grabbed by them in the 2nd round of the SuperDraft out of Monmouth College, the next year he had his first games geting 15 to go with cup games. On to Swedish Superettan team IK Brage and the Cosmos, like the 'Caps, an historic NASL team in 2013. The following year, it was back to the MLS and and the Quakes, then the Re-entry draft choice by the Sounders in 2016. He has a total of 52 games, 50 starts in his pro career.
