Whitcaps reup with Felipe & Reyna

Yes, a new coach most times does come with a good deal of tunrover and it has with Marc Dos Santos, even more so given his familiarity with the players in the league. These 2 are no surprise to have been retained, and it solidifies the midfield in front of a young defense. Felipe renewed for 2020 with an option for 2021, as Yordy Reyna had a new deal from this year with options on the next 2 with the use of TAM. HC Marc Dos Santos stated "Felipe is a player who suits what we want to do." 2018 was his initial year with the 'Caps and he did well with a goal and 7 assists over 25 starts in 30 games for Felipe who stated "For me this means a lot, because the club wants me to stay. Canada has always made my family feel at home, my son was born here. I'm here to win." Since first coming to MLS in 2012 Felipe has had 210 regular season game starts. He is over this time in the top 5 for touches, passes into the final third and top 10 league wide for successful passes & successful passes in the final third. He had 3 seasons each with NYRB and the Impact. Reyna at 25 has the 4th most big chances created in MLS with 22 since his entry in July of 2017. For Reyna, Dos Santos explained "Yordy has shown that he has qualities that are important for the club. He's fast, direct and has the ability to create chances." 2018 saw Reyna 4th with 15 big chances created, a pair behind leaders, Almiron, Lodeiro and Quintero in MLS play, tied with Giovinco, & Vela. Yordy had 11 assists in 2018 4 being game winners, tying him for the team lead  and 1 shy of the MLS record of Pedro Morlaes set in 2014. Over 50 games, 37 starts since arriving at the 'Caps, Reyna has 13 goals and 15 assists, 6 GWG, tied for 3rd most in club league history. Reyna informed " This is an important year, we have new players, new coaches, and I think it is going to be a very good season." From Chiclayo, Peru and 22 games good for 2 goals representing his nation, he has been in the last 4 games.
