USWNT goes Undefeated with a 4-0 Wn in 2nd game with Chile

By Sean McCaffery, September 5, 2018

In a pair of games that surely helped Chile and did not do much for the victors as they saw an early injury to McCall Zerboni who took a hard foul early in the 5th minute. They later played the last several minutes a player down  but were still able to pull out the win as by that time as it was already decided, but a good thing to work on, being a player down. It took just until I stepped away from the tv to open the scoring in the 34'. Mallory Pugh tackled American Football style in the box sent it home off her thigh as the rebound on the PK by Alex Morgan was headed in her direction by Tobin Heath. Tobin then got one of her own five minutes later giving them a 2-0 lead at the half. Starting the 2nd half, Carli Lloyd came in for Pugh, and she found her first goal barely a minute in off a diving header at 36, she is now the 2nd oldest player to score for the team behind the then 38 year old Kristine Lilly. Lloyd then closed out the scoring in stoppage time with a long run turning her defender in a 1-on-1 with Morgan on the left and slotting it home.

Next up is next month Qualifying for the World Cup, starting in WakeMed Park NC, all games are on FOX Sports.
