USWNT Back in Camp

By Sean McCaffery, October 7, 2020

In 11 days, the World Cup Winners will be in camp for 10 days in CO. HC Andonovski is to name names soon. Just  outside of Denver, this is their first camp in 7 months. Camp will begin as the NWSL Fall Series comes to a close and is the first meeting of the team since taking the SheBelieves title in March. Coach is perfect thus far, 10-0 but no games are attached to this camp.  It will be conducted in a controlled environment via a hotel in the Denver area with all tested upon arrival and then every 2 days following, until all test results are in there will be no full team training.

The protocols for the camp were set in cooperation with the US Soccer Medical team and Sports Science, Communications, Admin. & Events staffs headed by US Soccer Chief Medical Officer Dr. George Chiampas. Chiampas was of course part of the NWSL Medical Task Force that set the rules for the Challenge Cup & Fall Series.

Chiampas informed "Our top priority at all times is the health and safety of our players and staff. We all need to work together to make sure we can have the safest and most productive camp."

Vlatko added "Getting the National Team back together brings us relief and excitement and I'm thankful for all the work done behind the scenes to make this happen. We're going to be smart and effecient in how we conduct this camp, but we know that the Olympics will be coming fast once the calendar turns to 2021, so we have to make as much progress as we can during the time we have in Denver."

The USSF is of course still trying to get the team together in Nov.
