USWNT and France play to a tie in the SheBelieves Cup

Despite the cold, RBA sold out with 90% of the 25,706 ticket holders showing up. It was a good game as the US dominated early in the game, the 2nd half, France was very strong. It seemed the crowd favorite was young Mallory Pugh as all I heard were deafening screams each time she touched the ball, so reminiscent of Mia Hamm. Her faithful were well rewarded when she put back a rebound while being knocked over inside the penalty area at the 35th minute mark. Long Islander Crystal Dunn of RVC was a late sub and no sooner did she enter the game did she get a dangerous ball at the end line. The France goal by Eugenie Le Sommer came as she was left rather open gathered the ball, beat a player and finished into the side netting. The US will next face England in Orlando for the title Mar. 7 at 7 on ESPNews. Some pictures and an interview with SJU soccer alum from England, Rachel Daly are on the fb of Soccer Long Island Magazine.
