USMNT HOSTS 10TH-RANKED GERMANY IN FINAL MATCH
BEFORE FIFA WORLD CUP 2026
Coca-Cola Send-Off Match Set For June 6 at Soldier Field in Chicago
CHICAGO (June 5, 2026) – The U.S. Men’s National Team will take on 10th-ranked Germany in its final match before the start of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The United States will host four-time FIFA World Cup champions Germany in front of a sold-out crowd on June 6, in Chicago, Ill. in the Coca-Cola Send-Off Match. The match will kick off at 2:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on TBS, HBO Max, Telemundo, Universo and Peacock.
The match will be carried live on radio as Westwood One Sports delivers English language commentary while longtime partner Fútbol de Primera has the Spanish language call.
The encounter will provide the USMNT with one final opportunity to face a World Cup-qualified opponent ahead of the start of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The USMNT started its final action ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 earning a decisive victory against African Cup of Nations runners-up Senegal in Charlotte. The 3-2 victory in front of 57,741 spectators at Bank of America Stadium in the Allstate Continental Clásico was highlighted by goals from Folarin Balogun, Sergiño Dest and Christian Pulisic, with the latter scoring for the first time since Nov. 18, 2024, vs. Jamaica. This is the seventh-straight win for the USMNT against opposition from the Confederation of African Football, dating back to Nov. 17, 2010 vs. South Africa, the team's longest winning streak against any confederation outside Concacaf.
Folarin Balogun, Sergiño Dest and Christian Pulisic were integral to the USMNT’s victory over Senegal. The scoring was opened by Dest in the seventh minute, followed by Pulisic in the 20th minute to give the U.S. a 2-0 advantage. Senegal pulled one back prior to the halftime whistle, then got a second to open the second half both goals being scored by Sadio Mané. The USMNT would eventually take the lead for good after a clinical finish from Folarin Balogun in the 63rd minute. The match marks the second time in the last four games that the USMNT has had at least three different goal scorers.
FROM DEUTSCHLAND TO CHICAGOLAND
Coincidentally, Soldier Field was the site of the first meeting between the United States and Germany, a 4-3 win for the visitors in the 1993 U.S. Cup. Overall, the USMNT is 4W-8L-0D against Germany, with the most recent meeting another win for the Germans in 2023. In 2013, led by head coach and former German World Cup winner Jürgen Klinsmann, the U.S. earned a 4-3 victory in Washington, D.C. in the Centennial Match honoring the 100-year anniversary of the U.S. Soccer Federation.
The USMNT and Germany have met three times in the World Cup (1998, 2002, 2014), including during the USA’s historic run to the 2002 quarterfinals that ended in a 1-0 defeat in part due to controversial handball decision that would have given the U.S. a penalty kick and a man advantage.
Four-time World Cup Champions, most recently in 2014, Germany has also won three UEFA European Championship titles, putting them one behind Spain for the most tournament victories all-time. Germany finished atop Group A in UEFA World Cup Qualifying going unbeaten in its last five matches.
SUMMERTIME IN THE WINDY CITY
The upcoming USMNT match against Germany will be the 18th time the U.S. have played at Soldier Field since 1973. Ahead of the 1994 World Cup, the U.S. played Germany in a 4-3 loss in their only matchup at Soldier Field. In 1993, the opening game of the 1994 World Cup was played in Chicago, coincidentally it was also Germany playing in a 1-0 victory against Bolivia. The U.S. have lifted two trophies at Soldier Field - the 2007 and 2013 Concacaf Gold Cups. The game-winner in 2007 was an iconic finish in a 2-1 victory over Mexico, with a 62nd minute equalizer from Landon Donovan and a 73rd-minute match-winner from Benny Feilhaber. Chicago has a long soccer history and professional clubs, from the Chicago Sting of the NASL to . The Chicago Fire recently announced a new stadium project is expected to open ahead of the 2028 MLS season, becoming the first major professional stadium built in Chicago in more than 30 years.
In celebration of LGBTQ+ Pride Month, the USMNT and USWNT will once again wear jerseys featuring rainbow numbers during select matches in June. The Pride numbers first debuted in 2017, when the USMNT wore them in a friendly against Venezuela in Sandy, Utah, on June 3, followed by the USWNT in a 1-0 victory over Sweden on June 8. Since then, the rainbow numbers have become an annual tradition during Pride Month, reflecting U.S. Soccer’s continued support for the LGBTQ+ community. This year, both Senior National Teams will wear the Pride numbers on June 6, when the USMNT faces Germany in Chicago in its final send-off match before the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the USWNT takes on Brazil in São Paulo.
- With 85 caps, Christian Pulisic is the most experienced player on the roster, followed by fellow 2022 World Cup veterans Tim Ream (81), Weston McKennie (65), Brenden Aaronson (57), Matt Turner (54), Tyler Adams (53), Antonee Robinson (53) and Tim Weah (50).

- Christian Pulisic recorded his 20th career assist to become just the fourth player to reach 20 assists for the USMNT, following Landon Donovan (58), Michael Bradley (23) and Cobi Jones (22).

Germany enters its matchup with the USMNT on an eight-match winning streak, the most recent victory coming in a 4-0 drubbing of Finland in its penultimate match ahead of the World Cup. The team qualified for this tournament out of UEFA Group A, besting Luxembourg, Northern Ireland and Slovakia. The DFB-Team earned five wins in six, scoring 16 goals in the process with an emphatic 6-0 victory over Slovakia to close out the campaign. The squad was led by Newcastle United forward Nick Woltemade, who netted four goals during the qualifying rounds.
Following the conclusion of Europe’s domestic seasons, the German national team welcomes multiple champions into its World Cup squad. From Bayern Munich, Leon Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich, Lennart Karl, Jamal Musiala, Manuel Neuer and Aleksandar Pavlovic were part of a team that won a domestic double in the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal. Forward Kai Havertz represents Arsenal who earned its first English Premier League title since the 2003-04 season “Invincibles” season. In the Turkish Süper Lig, Leroy Sané helped secure Galatasaray’s 26th league title.
Led by head coach Julian Nagelsmann, Germany has earned a result in 26 of 32 games he’s been in charge. Known for his aggressive attacking style, Germany powered through qualifying scoring at least two goals in five of six matches. The German boss was formerly the head man of Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, where he coached current USMNT midfielder Tyler Adams.
After stepping away from international duty to focus on his club, German powerhouse, Bayern Munich, Manuel Neuer has returned to the DFB-Team to compete in his fifth World Cup. Neuer was a standout at the 2014 edition in Brazil, helping Germany defeat Argentina in the final, earning a Golden Glove in the process with four clean sheets. Neuer is currently fifth all-time in appearances for the German national team with 124 caps.
