USMNT U-23's Have Changes

By Sean McCaffery, January 10, 2021

A pair from the backline are out and of course another pair are in out are GK Ochoa & Def. Arajou, in come GK Freese & Def. Pines for the ongoing Jan. camp, set to go through the 23rd. Freese out of the Union is in for RSL backstop Ochoa as he incurred a quad injury ahead of getting to camp, DC back Pines is in for Araujo, out due to illness, we wish both players rapid and full recoveries.

This, the elder of the underage NT's will be in camp with the Senior team, some are getting a look for a game later in the month for the full USMNT.

For his part, Freese has a trio of games with the U-23's with just one goal allowed over 180'. A Homegrown for his club team, Matt has been on the last quartet of rosters for this NT going back to Sept. of 2019. The majority of his 2020 season was with the Union II in the USL Championship, with a sole game in MLS.

Pines has advanced a great deal of late, this is his 2nd year with United and he saw action in 16 games, scoring thrice. Inked as a Homegrown in 2019, he was the youngest to log 1,200 minutes with his side this season. He has gotten in on a trio of games with the U-23's thus far, this is his 3rd call up with the others being March & Sept. 2019
