USMNT Roster set for Olympic Qualifiers

HC Jason Kreis has named his 20 to go through this process, the USA team has not come out on the winning side of in some time now. What began as 28, is now finalized and will compete in Guadalajara Mexico from March 18-30, camp began on the first.

Kreis stated "We know that qualifying will be a challenge, but it's a challenge that we're ready for. We'll need all 20 players on this roster to contribute. Our players are hungry for the opportunity to compete. We're excited to get started with the tournament."

These games will have the 8 teams in 2 groups, the top 2 from each group move onto the semis, those winners get to rep the region at the Tokyo Olympics. the title game here is of course, March 30.

The USA begins Group A play March 18 v Costa Rica at 4:30 p.m. ET on FS1 & TUDN. Next up, the Dominican Republic March 21 from 7 p.m. ET on FS1 & TUDN, finally Mexico on Mar. 24 closes out group play at 9:30 p.m. ET also on FS1 & TUDN, the last time the team made the games was back in 2008, way too long.


GK Freese, Marcinkowski & Ochoa

Def: Araujo, Glad, Herrera Kessler Pineda, Vines

Mid: Cardoso, Dotson, Llanez, Mihailovic, Perea, Saucedo, Yueill

Fwd: Ferreira, Lewis, Michel, Soto, 

Fully 11 have been capped at the senior level and 10 had been rostered for the FIFA Youth World Cup. 10 hold Concacaf titles at the U-20's in 2017 & '18.

Kwik Kixx:

-11 MLS teams ae represented, RSL tops with 3

-4 play out of the USA, in Brazil, England, Mexico and Holland

-18 of the 20 have time in the USSDA, all whoo now play pro in the states

-10 MLS Homegrowns populate the roster

-Mihailovic is the most capped at this level with 5 caps and was the captain the last trio of games.

-Marcinkowski has been in all 9 camps for the team

-Cardoso has his first goal March 4 v Pelotas in Brazil

-Kreis has a MLS Cup to his credit in 2009, in leading them to the 2010-'11 CCL, they had the best run in US history, dropping the final 3-2 with Monterrey

-10 players are vets of these games with the U-20's, Lewis & Mihailovic were with the first team in their 2nd place finish at the 2019 Gold Cup

-Glad was a best XI in 2017 for the U-20 Championship, Llanez did the same for being among the top goal getters in 2018.

-4 are age eligible for the Olympics come 2024

-CJ Brown, Jeff Cassar, Steve Ralston will all assist Kreis and Rob Vartughian will serve as GK coach.
