US opens their Concacaf games 6-0 over Mexico

By Sean McCaffery, October 5, 2018

The winner and others of this Championship will go on to the France World Cup. Now the clear leader is the USWNT and given the rest of their group is not as strong expect them to top it. A scant three minutes in Lindsey Horan assisted on the inital goal as the US held an 11-0 edge on shots. The defense of El Tri was given quite the workout as the US kept coming at them again and again, they were more than fortunate to escape the first half with only a one goal defecit. An even earlier goal opened the seccond half as in the 46', Julie Ertz found paydirt, Alex Morgan struck for a brace and finally the goal of the game from Tobin Heath.

Next up, the games are closer than in the World Cup, so the US sees Panama Oct 7 at 5p.m. ET on FS1 & UDN then end group play with the loser to Panama in the first game 3-0, TNT on Oct. 10 @ 7:30p.m. ET on FS2 & UDN.
