US Male Soccer Players of the Year announced

Both the Male & Young Male Player of the Year Awards were revealed, GK Zack Steffen in his first year with the MNT, and ALex Mendez took the honors, Zack being only  the 2nd in 25 years to do this in just his first year with the team. Mendez is off to Germany following his Golden Boot at the U-20 level from Concacaf, Peter Vermes was the other to take the award in his first year with the MNT back in 1988 with Steffen being just the 4th GK to achive this lofty status and is the youngest back stop to do so at 23, Kasey Keller took it 3x 1997, '99 & '05 as Tim Howard got it twice over , 2008 & '14, Brad Friedel had his in 2002. Steffen stated, "It's an honor to be put up with those name. I'm thankful for my support system. Without them, I couldn't have done any of this.: Those voting include the respective NT coaches, NT Players with a cap in '18, members of the USSF Bd.of Dir. USSF Athletes' Council, NWSL, USL & MLS head coaches, select media members (no, not me), former players & administrators. Steffen with 44% of the vote beat out Tyler Adams who had 38%. For Mendez his 43% was higher than the combination of those tied for 2nd, Mark McKenzie & Giovanni Reyna with 18% each. We have met no less than 20 of these recepients of the decades and are very fortuante to have done so.
