Union Take Convincing Step to Supporters’ Shield Title Despite missing leading scorer Tai Baribo and Quinn Sullivan forced off early due to injury, the Philadelphia Union had no problems on the road against D.C. United, winning 6-0 on Saturday night. Philadelphia’s depth was on full display as four different players recorded multiple goal contributions – Bruno Damiani (two), Milan Iloski (three), Mikael Uhre (three), and Indiana Vassilev (two). With the victory, the Union are up to 19 regular season wins in 2025, which ties the club record for the most in a single season (2022). The win was a significant one in the Supporters’ Shield standings as the Union opened up a four-point gap and could clinch the Shield this weekend with a combination of different results. The chase for the Shield will likely need a win at Subaru Park on Saturday, October 4 when they host New York City FC in a battle of two top four teams in the Eastern Conference (7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV). |
