Today's Football Follies

By Sean McCaffery, October 23, 2025

An invite to an important event was received at 1:54 p.m., to RSVP by 3 p.m., the event begins 10 a.m. the next day? Attached to it was a press release from NYC stating noon? I have no idea of what to make of this. The NYC item did not have a time stamp to it, though in reading, it was worded as if it was done the day before. Why the team was uanable to get it out then I cannot say. How do they expect anyone to attend. Most still have 9-5 jobs, so reach out to who on Sunday to get the day off?  I do wonder why this was not set for Tues, to avoid such issues, further that I was at a team held event to watch a game, it was not even mentioned. The epicenter of soccer, how will that happen with such things being a regular occurance? It almost seems as if things are getting worse. I know such things do not happen on any sort of a regular basis in the typical business environment.

I am off to the MLS Semi FInal now, expecting to get a whole 3? hours of sleep before having to get a train, if approved, for NYC. As if that was not enough, bigger outlets may have sent local people to the game in California, all wrapped up at say midnight, 5.5 hour flight to Philly, so no delays arriving say 7 a.m. Who may then be awake at or before noon or 3, to then get to the 7:45 p.m. start for the MLS game. It is getting harder to get things done with local soccer, not the way to head into the year of hosting most FIFA World Cup games, locally the final.
