Midwest United FC will match up with San Diego Surf in this game. 8 p.m. ET Friday, it is for all the marbles nationwide. The 16 team tourney began June 20 for the top of the female youth programs. Both semis were close affairs, now for the grand finale. Midwest is a bit of a Cinderella story as they came in at #9, making it to tthe semis by goal differential. This set them on a collision course with with Mid-American Div. foe Sockers FC, who overcame Midwest United on the last day of the regular season. On this occasion, Midwest came away winners with a pair of first half goals and a stout defense for the 2-1 win. The oft injured Surf came in lower ranked at 11th, securing the wild card spot as they played at their own SoCal Sports Complex. A pair of wins in a row got them to the semi where just 2 minutes in a spot on the SportsCenter's Top 10 was earned by Sara Jayne Affleck as the Surf defensive line and 'keeper did the rest of the work for the 1-0 win.
