Sporting KC re ups with a trio

Tim Mellia the reinging 'keeper of the year and from Long Island has a new 3 year deal, Ike Opara a 2 year agreement and Danile Salloi 2 years with options for 2020 & 2021. The 3 did well in 2017 as SKC again took the Lamar Hunt US Open title and made the MLS playoffs for a team record 7th straight season. Opara was also the best at his spot for this past season as Salloi in the inital complete season with the team struck for 6 goals. In his 3rd season, the 31 year old Mellia was Goalkeeper of the year and MLS Best XI. With a minimum of 15 regular season games, his .78 GAA led the league, this with 78.4% saves, and 69.2% passing accurancy to go with 3 saved PK's. He started 5 games with a .72 GAA in US Open Cup play and 13 shutouts overall. From Great River NY, he now has 94 matches for KC since 2015, his 9 year MLS career has him 3rd with a 1.12 GAA with those having a minimum of 5,000 minutes played and his 72.2 save pct is 6th best of those with no less than 200 saves. Opara was Defender of the year in his 5th year with KC, as he from the center back lead a stifling defense letting up just 29 goals, 8 fewer than the next team. Personal bests in starts notching 30, minutes played 2,700 with 4 goals helped his cause for being named the best and a spot on the MLS Best XI for the first time. After coming to KC, he started 84 of 100 games overall with 12 goals and 3 assists debuting with the USMNT one month ago & getting the full game under his belt. Salloi at just 21 had his 6 goals over 27 games 3x in the season and 3 in the US Open Cup with the Cup winning strike v NYRB. Internationaly he was capped 2x by Hungary in the U-21 UEFA U-21 with a goal and assist in a 2-0 win v Cyprus. From Budapest, SKC had him signed as a homegrown in 2016 with his 2 years in their academy he was on loan in '16 to Swope Park Ranges with 4 goals and 3 assists and played for Hungarin team Gyirmot SE.
