Sporting KC has a COVID Case

By Sean McCaffery, July 10, 2020

Scant hours after a media Zoom session with HC Peter Vermes where he stated his players do trainging , eat, lift etc., then are back to their rooms, to reduce exposure, being more careful with the pair of teams left out of the MIB games, one of his own has had his 2nd positive test, such a shame. These results are on the heels of the two straight days after arrival in Orlando and the 5 total days of testing since they got there. Thankfully the rest of those with the team are negative. All of them will now be tested every day for 2 weeks, their game with MInnesota at 7 p.m. CT on the 12th is not effected.

After the first positive result, the protocol of the league calls for that one to be removed to the isolation area following evaluation by a telehealth doctor. This isolation is a room in a specified part of the hotel  to be carried out in such a way as to reduce the chance of contamination. He will stay isolated and tested daily as he undergoes monitoring.

Contact tracing has been initiated, and seeks out those who had at least 10 minutes within 6 feet of the player. Those within that range are to be tested and may keep on as they were with a mask when not playing, remain asymptomatic and negative for the virus.

In advance of leaving KC, all had a number of PCR tests done. Players had an antibody test. PCR will show an acitve infection while the other searches for antibodies.
