Sporting KC & 'Caps Kick it at 11 p.m. ET Sunday

By Sean McCaffery, July 25, 2020

The first knockout game for either in the MIB games, is a replay of opening day 2020, winner is back at it in the quarters on July 30, watch on FS1 & FOX Deportes, listen on Sports Radio 810 WBH & La Grande 1340 local to KC, stream on the FOX Sports app everywhere.

Peter Vermes and his 12 years at the helm of KC is by far the longest tenured of coaches, he took them beyond RSL & the Rapids to top the Western Conference for the regular season with their 12 points from a 4-1-0 record. The RSL win, 2-0 featured a brace by Pulido, goals assisted by Russell & Fernendes got them both the top spot in their Group and a certain spot in the next round, helped by MN & Colorado tying later that same day.

Marc Dos Santos a former HC of the SKCII in 2016, their first year in the USL, now is in his 2nd year with the 'Caps and they made it in fantastic form to the next level in the tourney. An hour plus weather delay did not dampen their ability to get a pair of 2nd half tallies in by Reyna the other Dajome, taking 3rd in Group B.

Totaling 13 tallies on the season, they are 2nd best at filing up the net and at their highest total ever following 5 games. Pulido has been very productive with a trio of goals and a quartet of assists, that combo leads the league. Khiry Shelton, in the 2nd season of his 2nd tenure with the team has put away 3 goals thus far, topping his 2019 total. Wed. goal getters are seeking to score again. For their part, Pulido & Shelton areĀ  the only MLS players to achive 3 goals five chances and win 3o duels on the year. LI GK Tim Melia is back from his red card suspension and is also having a good go of it thus far, his 316 minute un scored upon streak is the longest since relenting to 'Caps Nerwinski, he is 3-0 with a save pct. of .875 and a GAA of .25. that last low number is big time.
