The team's 2020 Defender of the Year is back as Gina has a new deal, it is a one year contract with a 2nd year option.

Lewandowski informed "I am excited to sign another year with Sky Blue FC. This club has a vision and a bright future. I am grateful for the opportunity to keep playing close to home and build the game in the Tri-State area."

HC Freya Combe added "Gina brought a wealth of experience and was a big contributor to the success of Sky Blue at the Challenge Cup. Having experienced players like Gina in the locker room is important as we continue to develop young talent at the club."

A key cog in their successes during the Challenge Cup she played each and every one of the 54o minutes and aided in the pair of shutouts over the half dozen games. Her 3 blocks, 14 interceptions and 25 clearance with an 86% completion rate on her passes were huge.

Prior to coming to the club in 2019, she had won a treble, Bundesliga, German Cup & UEFA Women's Cup/Championship League with FFC Frankfurt in 2007-'08. 2012 she was at Bayern Munich and over her time there had 119 games and 18 goals as they took the league title in 2015 & '16.

SBFC GM Alyse LaHue added  "Gina spent a tremendous amount of time in the off-season working herself back from injury. We're grateful to have her back another season."
