New York City Football Club Acquires $50K in General Allocation Money from Columbus Crew in Exchange for Homegrown Priority of Will Sands 

NEW YORK, N.Y., January 21, 2022 – New York City Football Club (NYCFC) today announced that they have acquired $50K in General Allocation Money (GAM) in exchange for the Homegrown Priority of defender Will Sands.  The Club will receive $50,000 GAM with an additional $75,000 in performance-based incentives. NYCFC retains a percentage of a future transfer outside of MLS.   The Rye, N.Y., native is currently a Junior at Georgetown University where he won the 2019 NCAA Men’s Soccer National Championship. During his time with the NYCFC Academy, the defender won the 2016 GA Cup with the U-16 team and featured on both the 2018 and 2019 U-18/19 Development National Championship team.  This past year for the Hoyas, Sands played in 22 games, starting in 21, contributing with three goals and three assists en-route to a Final Four appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Sands has scored four goals in eight international games for the U-17 U.S. National Team. Transaction: New York City Football Club trades Homegrown Priority of Will Sands to Columbus Crew in exchange $50K in General Allocation Money.
