This is why the teams have academies, now moving up to the first team are Julian Chavez, Aris Yang & Diego Ramos to sign USL Academy deals then tomorrow they will be on the 23 player roster for the first game of this USL season. The great system they have in place there continues to add to their first team as well as USNT's at different levels. In just 3 years, a dozen such players have signed, namely Hayden Sargis & Mario Meneagos who inked their deals earlier this year.
These 3 may just see game time facing FC Tulsa, they arrived to the first team in training camp getting time going up against, MLS, USL & NISA sides.
Republic FC GM Todd Dunivant informed "Our Academy continues to produce quality players and quality human beings, and it is a big credit to have earned these contracts following a very successful 6 week preseason with our first team. We will continue to prioritize and nuture uor development pipeline, which we think can be a big advantage for our club now and in the future."
These USL Academy contracts afford the players the opportunity to play with the first team while still preserving their NCAA eligibility.
Ramos at 17 is a GK, and has been the academy system since 2018, he signed his deal while with the Indomitable Club in 2019 getting games against Liga MX teams FC Juarez & Club America's U-20's. He made the 18 man list for 5 straight games in the USL Championship League.
Yang also 17, plies his trade as a right defender coming to Republic's Academy in 2016, over this time he has 104 games with 81 starts, he made a start this camp going up agains MLS Champs, Seattle Sounders.
Chavez, also 17 is a midfielder and has 5 years in their Academy system, his last saw him with half a dozen goals in just a dozen USSDA games. SInce 2016, he has found the back of the net 37 times over 92 games.
