Ron Broadbent of Brockport Passes at 86

USC announced earlier that this long and high serving member of their group has expired, back on Oct. 31, his wife of 63 years, passing mere weeks before. Brockport through and through, he went to HS there, and was the GK for Brockport St. as they took the 1955 National title. 1959 saw him as the HC at Spencerport NY HS, where he would remain for more than 3 decades also being their AD. They took 10 County titles, 7 Sectionals, and a pair of NYS crowns. In 1980 he was National HS Federation National Coach of the Year. Back to Brockport and HC from 1981-'83. In 16 years, he held many positions in the then NSCAA from the BOD heading it in 1992.

He took the Honor Award, the highest such award from the USC in 2016 and inducted to their HoF in 2013. Of curse he is on the Brockport HS Wall of Honor, Spencerport HS HoF, NYS Soccer Coaches HoF and the SUNY Brockport HoF.

USC President stated "Ron Broadbent stands tall among the longstanding leaders of the United Soccer Coaches who have selflessly given their time and talents to advance the sport."

USC Past Pres. Jeff Farnsworth added "He dedicated his life to his wonderful family, his friends, student-athletes and the game of soccer."
