The score at halftime at last night’s match was 2-0 New England. The New York Red Bulls were down, but far from out.
After halftime, they came out of the locker room knowing one thing: it was time to flip the script. And flip it they did…by scoring FIVE goals in the second half.
It all started with a spark from Daniel Edelman. The midfielder launched a shot from the edge of the box, which deflected off a New England Revolution player and into the net for our first of the night. Right then, the Red Bulls locked in.
Moments later, Emil Forsberg sent an assist to Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who slotted it home. The crowd was going crazy, the atmosphere was electric, and the Red Bulls still wanted more.
In the 72nd minute, Forsberg turned with precision and buried the third with a rocket off his left foot, putting the Red Bulls ahead.
Then came another moment of glory: Ronald Donkor delivered a perfectly placed assist across the box to Choupo, who slid in with perfect timing for his second of the night.
To seal it all, a penalty in the 88th minute. Our captain stepped up and tucked it in for his second-half brace.
Final Score: 5-3 Red Bulls.
When it came down to heart, grit, and who wanted it more, the Red Bulls gave the fans the ultimate answer with an inspiring comeback win and three much-needed points.
