RBNY plays even but loses 2-0

By Sean McCaffery, September 2, 2019

The Red Bulls out shot and had more shots on target than did the Rapids, yet Colorado walked away with the shutout win. With over a dozen good looks on goal, none of which went in both goals, the first more so than the 2nd was against the run of play. Many of the first half tries were wide right of Tim Howard, the ex Red Bull on his last go 'round in the league. Jonathan Lewis had both goals, showing his value as the visitors did pay NYCFC a good deal of money for him, what was better his first goal or his slide? Images coming soon. The second of his goals came late in the game as Colorado attacked again and again and Robles made many 1-on-1 stops, that is until he did not. To his credit, Chris Armas put the hear on himself for the result. Since late March the Red Bulls had not lost back to back, each of those games were 1-0 losses. Red Bull Arena has only seen the home side 22 time in league get shutout. Kemar Lawrnece picked up a poorly timed caution, now he sits for the Sounders match. There will be a week until that game then on the 18th they take on the Timbers.
