After training at RWJBarnabas Health Red Bulls Performance Center in Morris Township, N.J. on Wednesday, Head Coach Dominik Wohlert and defender Jason Bori spoke with the media prior to New York’s MLS NEXT Pro regular season away match against FC Cincinnati 2 on Sunday.
News and Notes
• Red Bull New York (9-4-3, 31 pts.) travels to take on FC Cincinnati 2 (4-11-0, 12 pts.) at Scudamore Field at NKU Soccer Stadium on Sunday, July 5. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET with coverage available on OneFootball and MLSNEXTPRO.com.
• New York sits in third in the Eastern Conference after securing a 5-0 win against Philadelphia Union II on Sunday, June 28.
• This will be the club’s ninth regular season meeting against Cincinnati. In their most recent matchup on April 19, the Red Bulls secured a 3-1 home victory.

On not getting too high or too low…
I think we do a good job of not getting too low after, after losses, and we also not getting in general too high after after winning winning games. It's always first about the performance, then about the result, and yes, we can say the last game was definitely a complete performance in terms of it was from minute one to 95 or whatever it was in the end, so it felt really good, and that's why I think the score in the end, the outcome is is the right one.
On the proven pathway…
We have a proven pathway, and we want to continue, and our goal is, yes, we want to win games, but the big, big topic is we want to develop young, young, talented players, and we want to allow them to enter the next, the next stage in their developments. Yes, even better when we can win games, but first of all, it's a player development pass, and we want to want to continue to do that.
On players keeping each other accountable…
The best teams in the world I believe, and I know that players keep each other accountable. It's not always just a coach for me. Is yes, I'm in the end, I'm responsible. I'm responsible with my stuff together, and we guide the players, but the best situation is we give the frame, and yeah, mainly the players keep each other accountable, and we mind each other what kind of environment and what kind of standards we set for ourselves. We have — we have real leaders in that group, and in the end, that makes my job a little bit easier.

On how the coaching staff has been helping the team…
It's in training, mostly. If you don't do it in training, you won't do it in the game. Sometimes I'd slack off, like a runner goes in behind, and I'd maybe get yelled at, but they point it out, and that's what helped us as a group — he does it to everyone.
On Dennis’ hat trick and the team performance…
Yeah, Dennis scored a hat trick, like props to him, but it's just like our full backs creating the chances — Dennis Iyengar driving, playing the ball to Dennis — it was like a complete team performance, and I feel like we've been doing that for the past two weeks, and we just need to keep building on it.
On not getting complacent heading into Cincinnati…
We won five nil twice, but if we just keep looking at that, we get distracted too much, and then we could lose to Cincy. It's just not being complacent and completely focusing and hopefully getting another result.
