Red Bull New York Set to Host Rivals New York City FC in Round of 16 of the 2026 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Sports Illustrated Stadium on Wednesday, April 29
HARRISON, N.J. (April 16, 2026) – Red Bull New York will host rivals New York City FC in the Round of 16 of the 2026 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday, April 29 at Sports Illustrated Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET with coverage on CBS Sports Network, Paramount+ and Red Bulls Radio in English via the Red Bull New York app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
New York advanced to the Round of 16 after defeating defending USL Championship winners Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC, 3-1, on April 15. Forward Julian Hall recorded a brace in the match and has now recorded seven goals across all competitions, while captain Emil Forsberg recorded a goal and an assist, and now has tallied three career U.S. Open Cup goal contributions in his career.
The Red Bulls have now advanced past their first Open Cup match three tournaments in a row. Since 2010, New York have posted a 13-1-4 mark in home matches in U.S. Open Cup play, while posting a 11-0-4 mark in U.S. Open Cup matches at Sports Illustrated Stadium. The club has posted a 3-0-0 mark against New York City FC in the U.S. Open Cup, while outscoring their rivals, 8-0, in those matches.
