Red Bull New York Post Match Media Availability Quotes and Audio

Post-match transcriptions from Red Bull New York post-match media availability with Head Coach Michael Bradley and midfielder Gustav Berggren following Red Bull New York’s 2-0 loss against FC Cincinnati at TQL Stadium.

Red Bull New York Head Coach Michael Bradley

On the match…
Two very different halves for sure. You know the first half is certainly not our best. The biggest frustration in the first half is that on a night when you go away from home, when you play against a good team in a great stadium, good atmosphere, that when we get to the end of the first half, we can't find a way to just make sure that we get into halftime only down one to zero, that we lose track of a few things and let a play that should have no business being in our box or anywhere close to our goal, and now all of a sudden they're calling a penalty, and we're down two to zero. So that's the lesson for me to take away from tonight in the first half. The response in the second half was excellent. That was us. We pushed the game in every way. Football was really good, pushed them back, counter pressed well, made chances, and kept doing it over and over again. And it's just a shame that we couldn't get to two to one, because I think it's a night, if you get the two to one, then you have a really, really good chance to get back to two to two. But that's how it goes sometimes. Sowe take the lessons, and we keep moving ourselves forward.

On midfielder Adri Mehmeti…

Adri is going in a really good direction. He has really good starting points. He has football, he has personality. He's a competitor. He loves to train every day. He loves the game. So in all ways, we're really, really happy with his progress along the way. We try our best to help him with little details, to find the right balance of letting him learn and grow by just doing and experiencing, but then also finding the right moments to sit down with him and show him some clips, and go through some different video with him. And so we're trying to help him improve the full package in terms of who he is as a player, everything that he can do on the field. But he's continuing to show everybody how good he is and how good he can be.

On shifting focus to 2026 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 match against NYCFC…

We already talked about it. The page gets turned very quickly. Big Game, Big Cup match on Wednesday night. Derby at home in our stadium, and so we're going to do everything we can to recover quickly and make sure that when that game starts on Wednesday night, that we're ready.

Red Bull New York Midfielder Gustav Berggren

On the match…

Tough game. I think in the first half, we didn't play so well. We had problem keeping the ball. And also we talk now in the locker room that when we are down one to zero and only a couple of minutes left of the first half, we need to be able to do a little bit better to not come see the second one right before half time.

On refocusing for Open Cup clash vs NYCFC…

This kind of game is the best. So we will recharge now and then we're looking forward to Wednesday, and we will do everything we can to win this game.

On teammate Adri Mehmeti…

When I heard how young he was, I was very surprised. He plays like he has a lot of experience, so he's a really good soccer player, and his ability to handle the ball and make a lot of good decisions is quite impressive.
