"IT FELT LIKE A DREAM" SAYS RAMSEY
Midfielder talks return from injury in victory at QPR
Aaron Ramsey said making an appearance in Burnley's win against QPR on Saturday afternoon was like 'a dream' after spending 14 months returning from a serious knee injury.
To cheers from his teammates, Head Coach Scott Parker and the travelling Clarets contingent, the 22-year-old was delighted to be back on the pitch and said the team were not 'taking their foot off the pedal' with a Championship league title to be won.
“It’s so amazing to be back on the pitch. It feels like a dream. All kinds of emotions as you can imagine, happy, nervous, scared but overall, it’s just like a dream coming back.
“It’s been 14 months now and the road hasn’t been straightforward at all.”
Ramsey had made a handful of appearances in U21s fixtures as part of his recovery, but did he feel it was special being back with his teammates in the last away game of the campaign?
“Exactly. The U21s games prepare you for these games, these are the games you want to play in, big games.
“The lads as you can see, they’re all happy for me and it’s great to feel that way because it’s been a hard journey for me. There’s been loads of staff that are here, loads of staff that aren’t here, that have been on the journey with me every single day and I can’t thank them enough.”

And during his time on the sidelines, how encouraging has Head Coach Scott Parker been?
“He’s been amazing. That literally shows the group, not just for me, the group we’ve got is amazing and I think everyone can see that throughout the other days as well. But today at that moment, yeah, he’s been amazing. I’m grateful to him for getting me back on the pitch as well. So, happy days.”
Burnley gave the travelling fans plenty to cheer with five goals on the day and whilst delighted Ramsey said the team are not done yet.
“Yes, there's no better day to be back on the pitch! It was amazing. We want to send a message that we’re not done yet and obviously we know that next season is going to be tough as well. So, it’s not finished yet and hopefully we can win the league.
“That was the aim for today to show that we’re not taking our foot off the pedal, and we want to go and win the league. Hopefully, we can do as much as we can and that will do the job.”
