Queensboro FC Logo

By Sean McCaffery, October 6, 2020

The first ever pro soccer team in the most diverse borough in the nation has done the reveal of their logo with plenty of history behind it. The team will play in the USL Championship, the highest of level in the USL system and Div. 2 in the USA starting in 2022. The team informs that their first team players are to be drawn from top international recruits, select BQFC Academy players and local NY based players. I would expect sometime next year, they will begin to sign players and then loan them out.

Below is a description of the design of the logo:

-Centerpiece, the "Q" illustrates the namesake and origin of the county at the middle of their crest, which stands for the diversity of Queens. Fully less than half of the residents were born in the USA, pobably well more as many are not accounted for, the new Census will give a bit better of an idea on this.

-Shield, this goes around the "Q", showing inclusion and protection with a reference to royalty and tradition, The upper parts of the shield are for the community- the most vital piece of the club.

-Logotype, "Queensboro FC" is a custom type refeed to as QBFC Plaza, drawn from the historical typography found on the Queensboro Plaza.

-Crown that stands for the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge (59th St. bridge). This designated landmark and the 11 elements of it also equal the 11 players on a field.

-Color palette, the middle is purple for the 7 train going from Manhatten to Queens, other colors are grays, for the urban landscape of NYC.

David Villa, team co-founder a top player for another NYC team and legend for the Spanish national team in winning the World Cup and a number of teams in LaLiga in his native Spain, his last team being Kobe in Japan told " We are making progress every day on bringing this club to life. we have been approaching both the sporting side and the business side with world-class vision and execution, and we look forward to announcing new developments in the coming months. March 2022 can't come soon enough and I look forward to being back in New York to build and introduce this club to the world."

Jonathan Krane, co-founder of the team and CEO of KraneShares added "Queensboro FC's logo unveiling is a major step in bringing people together across Queens, New York City and the world through their love of soccer-and to bring the championship mindset back to out city. In more ways than sport, New York will come back, because we always play to win."
